3024: Please describe the mix in a single sentence ?

EHUA:  "This mix is dark contrasts, bursts of sunlight and rhythmic complexities all the way, it explores the entire emotional spectrum."

3024: What DJ inspires you at the moment / has inspired you throughout the years and why?

EHUA: "Flore’s DJ sets are some of the best sets I’ve seen in recent times. The skills and the selection are always next level. But through the years I’ve been inspired by so many incredible DJs from so many different scenes - from minimal techno, to dubstep, drum and bass, jungle - my inspirations are countless."

3024: What are you working on / what have you got forthcoming?

EHUA: "At the moment I’m working on a bunch of projects in between touring and I have a few tracks coming out in the next months. I’m also exploring lots of new sound directions, I’m going through a phase where I constantly have a lot ideas and I excitedly and disorderly jump from one to the other. It’s fun though, it feels good."

Back in 2011 we caught up with Martyn as he prepared to release his sophomore album Ghost People on Brainfeeder - conversing away on the obstacle of second album syndrome, his first foray into performing his music live and his early collaborations. Seven years later and an album on Ninja Tune in between, his fourth LP titled Void lands on Berlin's flagship label Ostgut Ton on the 22nd of June. Questioning everything he has done musically in the past, and everything he still wants to do, the album has been described as being written as a means of catharsis, recently being released from the hospital after some unexpected health issues. Turning to Max Roach's 1979 ensemble percussion album M’Boom, however, was the spark in reassessing the elements that drove him to make music in first place.

In his own words: "That was the first record I listened to in my studio after coming out of the hospital. It's a project where Roach works with a slew of top notch percussionists and drummers and rotates them for every composition. Playing this record was such a surreal experience, the first music I consciously listened to after my recovery. I could hear so much space in the music, something I had never noticed before; almost like a 3D experience, with the most striking aspect being the emptiness between the players."

In the space of eight months Martyn would write his fourth album, creating an almost semi-descendant of his first LP Great Lengths sound-wise, yet forging new paths forward in genre. At nine tracks, with no collaborations or vocalists, the music is described as being stripped down its essentials, as Martyn looks to recontextualize his music with elements of Nyabinghi, drum ‘n‘ bass, and gqom. His Truancy Volume, which he calls an 'inspiration mixtape' to compliment Voids, is a collection of music, new and old that he's listened to over the past year. With Digital Mystikz alongside Shed and Objekt alongside Appleblim, Martyn roams through an almost biographical tale of selections, with his love for jazz shining through with the inclusion of London jazz collective Sons Of Kemet. We also caught up with Martyn for the second time on Truants to talk about Voids, how his ideas form, playing live at Panorama Bar and how radio has become more accessible than ever.

"I'm still getting to grips with what I want from my music" Mosca told Attack Magazine back in 2014. By then he'd already released a number of records on Fat City, Numbers, Night Slugs, 3024, Rinse, Hypercolour, Ann Amiee and his own label Not So Much. A discography many would look on from the outside and declare him a veteran producer, Mosca's versatility as an artist has been described by himself as "always just being a case of balance". Reaching into a massive pool of influences that range from dub reggae, afro house, latin music, soul, jazz, techno and house his path as a London-based producer seems understandable.

We caught up with Mosca to discuss his recent releases on LavaLava and Livity Sound, the rule of knowing what not to make, the impact of radio, info on forthcoming music and how his label Not So Much looks set to live again this year. His Truancy Volume, a four-deck mix that he's described as an experiment of sorts, plays on structure by matching a series of locked grooves with years on years of collected loops, most he's either made, edited or cut up himself. (The tracklist requires a bit of a scroll through for a mix just under an hour.) It's a fast-paced mix with energy, that's both multi-tempo and multi-genre, pairing the likes of Childish Gambino with DJ Lilocox, Max ​L​e Daron with Skee Mask and Wbeeza with Batu for a celebratory mix rife with hot transitions.

If you've ever made it to a Version party, usually held in Tresor's sister club Ohm in Berlin, you'll be well aware of Hops' impeccable taste for percussive, bass heavy club sounds with an undeniable swagger. The former reggae buyer at Hard Wax, where he worked for 7 years, has long been honing his craft in Berlin's clubs and is now one of the most reliable proponents of dub inspired dance music. Hops now heads up the Version clubnight with his friend Orson, who is also responsible for running the label of the same name and continues to put out strong releases from the likes of Agrippa and Yak. The night has become a go-to for many, from Berlin and far beyond, seeking the intersection of dubstep, techno, grime and dub that Hops brings to the floor. As fans ourselves at Truants, we thought he would be perfect to tap up for a Truancy Volume, and he sure didn't disappoint.
