Orb Podcast 050: Polygonia

Lindsey Wang, the mind behind Polygonia, is a versatile musician and artist based in Munich, Germany. A long time before her electronic music journey began, she explored the realms of several acoustic instruments intensively. This skill combined with studies of various other art forms, inspired the artist to translate her understanding of rhythm, composition and experimentalism into the digital
music language.

Her sound identity is driven by a mystic, deep and organic character which is enriched with acoustic elements built into the genres of deep techno, downtempo and ambient.
Polygonia already released her music on several labels like Lowless, Jazz-o- Tech, On Board Music, Lett Records, Alexandar and more. She expresses herself in various ways through Live- and DJ-Sets. Her audio color palette covers a huge spectrum from calm and harmonic sounds to polyrhythmic dark grooves.

Together with Dycide and MTRL she founded the ambient and deep techno label
IO.

Polygonia joined our family earlier this year, introducing herself with a killer performance at Harmony Label Night in Prague's Ankali club. Her track 'Marea' is part of the upcoming compilation, X [HARMONY010], released on the 13th of January. Besides that, she has a collaborative project on Harmony coming up in late 2023 that we are very much looking forward to.  💚

Thrilled to host one of my current favourites & major inspirations, the insanely talented @polygonia for number #120. An ever-impressive force,  Polygonia known for her driving, organic & eclectic productions & beautifully deep, percussive dj style.

I was lucky enough to see Linni play live at Monument festival in Norway last year and was blown away.. her ability to seamlessly fuse psychedelic melodies, driving basslines & unique percussive rifts, all in a somehow soothing yet driving manner, is truely a work of art.

For MNMT 402 we welcome London based artist, Sybil with a mystical two hour voyage spanning the deepest depths of techno and beyond, stitched together from a broad palette of textures, ambiance and psychedelia. 

About the mix Sybil said:

“For this mix I wanted to capture the icy freshness of January, a month filled with new energy, bright skies, and winter’s introspection. Inspired by a trip in the mountains: cold alpine air, glittering snow, and vast expanses of rock nestled amongst forests of pine trees. I also wanted to bring the sonic feeling of my Deep Mind Music (https://soundcloud.com/deep-mind-music) mixes into a techno format. A mix for daytime deepness, spiralling upwards on a shimmering journey through the sky.”

A lesson in rhythm from a former De School resident.

When it comes to minimalist dance music, Ruben Üvez, AKA Konduku, is one of the best in the game right now. With a masterful and ever-shapeshifting understanding of rhythm, the Berlin-based artist crafts sublime dance music with a staunchly leftfield bent. Don't just take our word for it: how many DJs, after all, can claim to have moved De School to a puddle of tears?

Musically, Üvez is hard to pin down. He's often billed as a techno artist, but actually you'll find his sound sits outside of the genre's many conventions. With an outsider's curiosity, he leans into diverse moods, tempos and genres, though one throughline is always how he arranges his drums. Whether it be deep, Nobu-core techno such as 2023's Hayal EP or UK beat science á la Peverelist on 2019's  Gegek, he leads with rhythm across his DJing and production. The end product is a hypnotic, one-of-a-kind sound that hits the body before the brain has time to catch up. In short, it slaps.

As Üvez's RA Podcast demonstrates, he's got a serious knack for crafting and selecting tunes that can  deeply captivate a dance floor. Clocking in at just over 90 minutes, RA.967 is an excursion through a timeless sound, packed with long, layered blends, flick-of-the-wrist transitions, locked grooves and spine-tingling atmospherics. In 2020, we called Ruben Üvez one of techno's brightest new talents. This mix sees him ascending to a seat at the top table.

There’s a rhythm to how the festival unfolds. Thursday opens slowly, almost like a breath in. By Friday night, the pulse is stronger, but not too heavy. Monument festival had settled into its rhythm, and Kia and Polygonia stepped into the wooden dj-booth together.

The forest floor was vibrating, the crowd fully present. Their set matched the moment—playful, warm, and alive. It felt like Friday was always meant to sound like this. Varden became their playground.

This was more than a strong back-to-back. Two years earlier, they met here, both playing solo, both part of the Monument line-up for the first time. This night marked an anniversary of their friendship. From solo artists to close friends, now creating something special together.

Deconstructed kicks echo through shifting sonic architecture, interwoven with shimmering synth pads that hum with otherworldly energy. Here, rhythmic complexity and futuristic sound design converge to create something meticulously crafted, yet breathing with an organic, unpredictable life.
