صوت سحر واحه،
                 وقتی‌که از تَرَک
                       پیچیده بر دالان‌های خاک،
                                                   من بودم؛
که به‌وقت گرگ و میش
	می‌ترساندم محلیان را  


گاهی شب‌ها،
به چارچوب بسته، 
	مترسکِ ژنده‌پوش
                           ‌‌       میخ،
                                 تا زوال آفتاب 
                                                می‌شدم؛

که کلاغ را به یک نگاه،
دور کنم از کشتزار.

ترس نهفته 
 بر جان اشیا
  من بودم؛


که بر آینه‌‌ها،
          ناگهان اواسط شب 
                                برابرت،
                                   احضار می‌شوم؛

تکرار کن هجای نامم را!
 ریسمان آویخته به پنبه منم،
             بر کرانه‌ی شب از چنار‌ها،


 آن‌زمان که رعشه به علف افتاد،
و اندام جانوران برق می‌زد بر تاریکی،
                                    اصابت رعدم. 

در هر جرقه که از خوشه‌های گندم،
دود از خرمن مارها
                  تیره‌های ابر می‌شد.
پیش از آنکه شبح شاهین،
                         از دره بگذرد.

چکه‌های بارانم،
             وردِ زبان تو
                     بخوان مرا!
که آتشین به کف ابلیسم من؛
گدازه بر کمین ذهن تو می‌افروزم
بنگر، که زاده‌ی هراس تو منم،
 هزار سایه‌ی گریخته از دوزخ

When Verse returns to the Sea Goddess' temple on Qaimusu Island, she finds it falling apart and returning to the earth.  No one is here anymore. The songs of priests and acolytes have long faded into memory.  Missing her eye, and her memory of what happened to the temple, Verse descends into its depths.
