Soul Clap’s Charlie aka Charlie Soul Clap preps his UTM debut with an all out edit dream for Roy Davis Jr.’s elusive label.

For fans of Soul Clap and Roy Davis Jr. alike, the second release since Undaground Therapy Muzik’s relaunch will feel at home in their library. The new EP by Charlie Soul Clap comes in the form of a rhythm focused 4 track take — comprised of 2 A’s with 2 B’s that take a deeper focus on the first track on the release – Virgo’s Victory. The world has been closed for long enough, so Charlie and Roy felt it was time to refashion living rooms as dance floors and introduce something you could have a gentle afternoon or late night boogie too. The EP cements Charlie’s solo works as a clear ode to disco and classic house music.

The EP is being released on the 21st May worldwide. For everyone to enjoy. There may be a vinyl press when the record shops are open around the world again, but for now – this will be homed on all your favourite streaming sites, and of course, the UTM Bandcamp.

Charlie stands with two feet firmly planted on top of a mountain named Soul Clap and yet he points further into the sky with a look of mischievous excitement. Somewhere, deep on the horizon, the mystery of his musical journey will unfold. Charlie is devoted to following in the footsteps of those who have paved the way before him and continues to churn out thematic dance music that is routed in tradition but is eclectic, unexpected and contemporary edging into the future. As a principle songwriter for Soul Clap he has worked with artists like George Clinton, Nona Hendryx, Louie Vega, Laid Back, Amp Fiddler, Robert Owens, Sa’D “The Hourchild” Ali, XL Middleton, Midnight Magic, Lee Curtiss, Martin Buttrich, Wolf + Lamb, Nick Monaco, No Regular Play, PillowTalk, Navid Izadi and on and on.

Tensnake's approach to both music production and label-management has always straddled the gap between being 'tongue in cheek' whilst also remaining incredibly effective at getting dance floors whipped into a frenzy. His label True Romance has evinced this over the years with an extensive catalogue of fun, jubilant dance music. 

Next up on the label is an EP from Toulouse based artist - a fresh face in the True Romance catalogue; Dan Corco. Dan Corco's been bubbling away and steadily making waves with releases on labels such as Rubsoul, Too Many Rules and Downtown Underground. 

His latest EP 'Burn After Reading' speaks straight from the heart of True Romance and makes a perfect addition to the catalogue - it's a straight up Disco / House crossover packed full of cheeky loops, bumping drums and a balmy atmosphere. 

Truncated Funk samples tumble through bongos, thick claps and nifty filter control. The tracks are sequenced expertly - keeping the feverish tension up and keeping the feet on the floor.

Three stellar remixes of Aussie hotshot Jerk Boy's recent collaboration with Chicago house legend Mike Dunn to cover a range of tastes, needs and urges. Watergate resident Kristin Velvet channels Mike Dunn's tracky, heads-down roots with her stripped-back version, where old skool drum machine pressure meets throbbing bass and Dunn's moody vocals are left plenty of space to breathe. Ben Gomori channels early MJ Cole productions on his Keep It 4x4 Remix, with clipped, heavily swinging drums laced with boomy sub bass, quivvering synth chords and cute clavichord motifs. Dutch master T.U.R.F. continue their fine run of form on their joyous disco house re-rub, cramming oodles of funk and soul into their cut-up groove.
