Released back in 2006, 'Atlas' has reached its ten year anniversary and what better way to celebrate than with some shiny new remixes? From one duo another, Swiss pair Adriatique have swapped DIYmanic for devilish with their new re-imagining.

They've taken the techno bruiser and turned into a twinkly builder, one that keeps intact all of the components that make the original so good. The colossal main riff is still there, creating a nice amount of dread while tones flutter innocently in the background.

Kicking off what’s set to be a huge year for him as an artist, Franky Rizardo’s ‘Same Man’ sets the tone for an upcoming year of new material. Somehow achieving the improbable and balancing his touring with consistently strong productions, plus his own Flow radio show and parties, Franky returns to Defected to take things up yet another level in 2017. 

Sampling a 1983 rare groove track ‘For The Same Man’ by B Beat Girls, Franky’s version is all about the groove-laden house beat, designed for building up the dancefloor before that unmistakeable and catchy-as-hell vocal hook drops just shy of the track’s midway point. ‘Same Man’ is destined for dancefloor destruction and has become the most sought after record in Franky’s sets.

Having recently celebrated ten years, the consistency of music on Matt Edwards’ Rekids is indisputable with releases from Nina Kraviz, Mr. G, David Morales, Peggy Gou and DJ Deep to name a few. Aside
from his A&R abilities Edwards’ extensive understanding of electronic music is evident in his various pseudonyms. Amongst these Radio Slave is easily his most illustrious and most fitting for the seminal label’s milestone 100th release.

Containing all the hallmarks of a Radio Slave production, ‘Another Club’ merges looped vocals with thudding kicks as echoing stabs and infectious hats work their magic. On the flip, ‘Feel The Same’ is a
funky slice of Detroit inspired house.

The NYC underground house music legend Joeski returns to the kitties family with his new brand EP, a good example of the wide range of genres that Joeski can reach in the studio. “Blackbird” is raw tech-house, leaded by a dubby female vocal for all audiences. UK superstars Gorgon City took that vocal and made a superb remix, clubby, dark and acid. But not as acid as “Analogue Filters”, the second original track of the EP. A filtered bass leads the track from top to bottom, great stuff for the dancefloor, proved and tested. Last track of te package is a dub mix of “Blackbird”, made it in a techno way: fat bassline and Roland classic drums. Joeski did it again!

Track of the Day: Sidney Charles “Soultrade”

The  release  opens  with  the  title  track,  The  Mask  Of  Sanity;  Over  8  minutes  of  haunting  synth work and expertly compiled drums that build to a bubbling crescendo of that Reset Robot sound we all know and adore. Track two is Bil'am's Donkey; A harder more-to-the-point weapon with pounding  drums  that  doesn't  mess  around.  Next  up  is Paradise  Lost;  This  is  more  of  a  driving affair with a house twist. Expect to hear this one on repeat across dancefloors this summer. The release  closes  with Oak  Ridge  Capsule;  Mechanical  yet  groovy,  moody  but  danceable,  this  is exactly why we love what Reset Robot encapsulates so much.
