From note one, the “Names” EP is all business, with “Illusion”s punchy riffs (suitable for stargazing or naval-gazing) gallop forward, with Williams pontificating on his reflected reality vs. the illusion of self; a two-minute earworm on gender confusion. “The Name Song” is next, with its persistent jangle, laundry list of Williams’ favorite Seventies names & instantly memorable chorus of “I don’t care about anyone” coyly delivered with a sardonic wink and nod. “Two Person Love”s fuzzy lead line opens side two, (an ode to “erotomania”) barreling forward like a Fairport deep cut on ephedrine. A woozy cover of Felt’s “Crystal Ball” ends the EP, a faithful love-letter to an obvious influence, draped in a gauzy flange. Wrapped in an eye-catching sleeve design by Total Control’s James Vinciguerra, the “Names” EP practically screams “essential”. Look for more music coming soon on Trouble In Mind from The Tubs as the band heads into the studio to record their debut album.

Come Down (Demo)

This song was first written and recorded back in Rochester, NY in April 2017 and, having not released any music in around 3 years, I recently quit life and committed to music full time in order to begin finishing and releasing the roughly 200 songs I have to get through. And this track felt like the perfect first song for trunkweed to release after an extended hiatus because it's a track that transports you back to the roots of where this project began, in sound, in style, and in feeling, I felt that this song demonstrated a sort of nostalgia and similarity to the origins of "Days of Haze". And so, I re-recorded it over the last month in my home studio, which has become a monster of its own, allowing me tools and capabilities I could've never before dreamed of.

This song is about that longing for something better that we all feel constantly, whether it's the romantic happy ever after, the hope that there must be something bigger and better than this after this life or outside of this world, or just the never-ending daydream of an envisioned future life where you have found peace. I hope you find your peace.

trunkweed is sometimes angsty, other times fun, frequently dreamy, seldom dumb, always soaked in reverb but seldom overdone, generally poppy but never lame or dumb. 

the home recording project of Brady Kelly, with a rotating ensemble of live musicians, that's often assisted by Kyle Phass on drums. After over 3 weeks of non-stop recording this October, trunkweed has finally finalized the song selection for their next album and is currently, hard at work mixing and mastering while, searching for the right team to assist in its proper release.  



“Trunkweed is a heavy bedroom-punk band influenced by melodic grunge and science fiction. They dropped to a two piece after the forced removal of their former bassist, but chug on even heavier and tighter than before. Trunkweed's founding member, vocalist Brady Kelly, strings together three amps to build the blurry, decimating sound wall the stoner rock duo is known for. “
