With a recent invitation to EDC Orlando, Berto continues to make waves in the electronic music scene. Wherever he goes, the dance floor comes alive - his infectious energy touches souls. 

A product of the burgeoning American Underground of the late 90s and early 00s, Jason Short aka Sol Glissant has been moving dance floors and discerning listers alike for the better half of the last two decades. Short’s dense and heavily-layered sound is punctuated by rich harmonic contrasts and hefty bass surprises. After a few years hiatus to reimagine his latest works. Short is back on the scene armed with a solid string of statement EPs. His celebrated 2020 releases for Mioli Music and Immers Music set the stage for three EPs in 2022 for acclaimed imprints Whiskey Pickle and Denied Music. 

Jason Short’s story begins with an introduction in early childhood to pushing buttons and playing instruments, by way of a musician father with a home studio. Having had exposure to music theory and instrumentation since childhood, everything changed when he got his first taste of the possibilities of electronic music during the heyday of the Bay Area’s iconic fabled underground music movement of the late 90s. Short started his own artistic journey in 1998, using a friend's gear to begin creating sketches, He then cut his teeth as a DJ while working at Smash Music in Jacksonville Beach, FL, and started DJing at local clubs at the age of 18.

After earning a degree in Recording Arts at Full Sail in Orlando, Short then moved to Chicago, and it was in the home of house music that he had his first vinyl release. it was his first releases in 2001 that created the initial spark needed to draw interest for his first international booking in Mexico. 

After continuous subsequent releases and a two-year stint in Miami, Short eventually landed in San Francisco in 2005, after he again fell in love with the Northern California vibe and sound. His expanding international profile led him to transatlantic bookings in Munich, Berlin, Frankfurt, Lausanne, Barcelona, and Rome, with Ecuador, Mexico, and Vancouver as regular destinations in his own hemisphere. Short continued to release deep melodic and techy music under his own name, and now started a second project for his more quirky sample-based analog-funk creations, as Sol Glissant. 

After a brief sabbatical, Short moved back to the Jacksonville, FL area, where he is more inspired than ever to continue his artistic evolution. Leveraging an electronic music education the he earned as a contributor to many of dance music’s most important North American locales, during some of their essential eras, Short under his own name, or as Sol Glissant, is one well-seasoned rebirth to pay attention to.
