Inspired by my work in the Canadian Arctic, 1995-2000.

Guitar Amplifier: Vox AC15….set as clean I can get it. 
Fender pedal board: Line 6 delay; Fender clean boost
Mics: a pair of Royer r10 ribbons for guitar 
Mic preamps: API 312
Mixer: API 24 channel summing mixer (8200/7800)
Stereo Bus processing (API EQ and API compressor)
Final mix down to a MARA MCI JH110 1/4inch 2-track at 15 ips using ATR Master Tape.

Walking on tundra

A winter's night...walking on newly-fallen snow, breathing in the crisp air, and gazing at a sea of dazzling stars in the sky while soft breezes create nature's song in the forest...Magical!

Winter's Night (Vinternatt)

Väterchen Frost fegt übers Feld,
- der Winter kehrt jetzt ein.
Er pustet, was die Lunge hält,
hüllt Feld und Wiesen ein.

Ich sitze drinnen, in meinem Zimmer
und schaue hinaus, in die Natur.
Auf den Wegen, ein weißer Schimmer,
darin so manche feine Spur.

Die Tapsen dort, von Nachbars Katz´.
Sie schleicht gern um den Gartenteich.
Auch der kleine flinke Spatz,
stibitzt gern Futter in unserem Reich.

Im dicken alten Kiefernbaum,
hängen jetzt die Futterglocken.
Die Landschaft wird zum Wintertraum,
die Luft ist herrlich kalt und trocken.

Der Winter ließ lange auf sich warten,
jetzt ist er da, - zur Weihnachtszeit.
Lichterglanz erhellt den Garten,
wie schön wäre es, wenn es noch schneit.

Father Frost sweeps across the field,
- Winter is coming now.
He blows what his lungs can hold,
envelops the fields and meadows.

I sit inside, in my room
and look out into nature.
On the paths, a white shimmer,
in it many a fine trace.

The taps there, from the neighbor's cat.
She likes to sneak around the garden pond.
And the nimble little sparrow,
likes to steal food from our kingdom.

In the thick old pine tree,
the feeding bells are now hanging.
The landscape becomes a winter dream,
the air is wonderfully cold and dry.

Winter has been a long time coming,
but now it's here - at Christmas time.
Twinkling lights illuminate the garden,
How nice it would be if it were still snowing.

It's my favourite time of year so I thought I would try and create a festive sounding piece of music! 

A Winter's Tale

A snowman is a symbol of happier and a simpler time as a child. As I grow older, and a tad bit cynical, I would like it back.  During this holiday season, may you enjoy the company of family and friends, and have warm memories of those that are missed. That is everything. Merry Christmas to all!

Once settled in Artica Point, almost frozen, I watch the world happening fast, and I tell you about by singing five verses with different vocal styles, a main instrumental theme in progress all along, and some bits of the other songs in the album to keep it conceptual ;)
