We are proud to present the latest single from Turbo Recordings Executive Honcho Tiga. Produced in collaboration with Hudson Mohawke, “Easy” is a massive ode to passive-aggressive income, featuring the only anthemic chorus imaginable under the yoke of The Global Crypto Web3 Gratitude Community Empire.

“No one wants to work their body anymore,” says the Montreal merrymaker from atop a throne in the exact shape of a digital wallet. “I get it. Who wants their surplus sweat equity vacuumed up off the dance floor by corporate parasites when the real future’s in decentralized skanking? But that’s why people in my position - the top one-percent in terms of nightlife and hospitality take-home pay - have to offer real benefits to risking it all in the clubs. I’m talking dance-move insurance, competitive drink ticket packages, and - most of all - the kind of brick-and-mortar bangers Rhythm Nation was founded upon back in 1814."

The single also features B-side “There Is No Distance Between Us,” whose title was secured following an acrimonious legal battle with Bette Midler.

"I’ve designed my entire life around the concept of ease,” adds Tiga. "I never wanted to work for a law firm. I wanted to make beats for a law firm. I’ve always been self-employed, and that why my street cred’s off the street charts. And I’ve let as much of that freedom trickle down to the audience as I can. Because when it comes to music, there’s no such thing as an acceptable minimum wage. You gotta know that you gotta give it all you got, or you’re gonna get got.”

The epochal energy of "Ascension" captivated us from the very first moment, making it an ideal intro track. With its cinematic soundtrack reminiscent of "Vangelis", Italian producer Riccardo De Polo has crafted a sublimely ethereal experience that transports listeners into the vast expanse of space. As stars and planets drift by, the music beckons us to explore further, to surrender ourselves to the moment. The low strings serve as a booster until the rocket engine roars to life and the spaceship disappears into another galaxy.

Subsequently the polyrhythmic sequence of "Wahnstimmung" spirals abstractly far below the cerebral cortex. The driving bass drum, paired with shakers and percussion, propels the composition forward at a steady pace. The tension intensifies, painting a picture of liquid metal pouring into a melting pot. Pure, stripped-down techno as we know it from its origins.

"Inception" hypnotically takes you into a deep state of trance, engulfing you in a tribe's energy. It’s truly a classic Cocoon sound that has its very own place in Sven's sets. The vigor is palpable, the shimmering sequence will make the dust visibly glow above the open-air dance floors while the air begins to shimmer. Noisy snare drums heat the narrowed arrangement to the absolute boiling point. This is the energy we have been looking for!

Within Tiga’s stripped-down electronic funk and Hudson Mohawke’s grandiose beats exists a common thread; an idea Tiga expresses as “hardcore romance”. Hell borrowed the title for his second proper album from the Giorgio Moroder supergroup of the '70s, so it's not surprising that Munich Machine looks to disco culture for its starting point. But of course, that's only the starting point. Munich Machine is a varied collection of acid, techno and house that marries Hell's vision of acid-electro to an assortment of straight-ahead dance tracks and a few truly odd covers -- including a stunning remake of the Barry Manilow chestnut "Copacabana" and a reworking of "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" with the lion replaced by a dominatrix. It's not exactly a commercial venture, but Munich Machine occasionally possesses the flavor of a retro-disco record like Daft Punk's Homework. - Text by John Bush

Turbo Recordings was founded by Tiga in Montreal back in 1998. In addition to launching his own career, the label has been integral in the success of acts like Chromeo, Gesaffelstein, Duke Dumont and most recently, ANNA & Charlotte de Witte. “We started out singing into plastic bags and shipping them to stores as quickly as possible. Later, we discovered that vinyl sounds way better when delivered by kayak. I learned so much the first few years…Now, as I look towards the future, I can envision music for poor people, sonic odors for the hearing impaired, even MP3s for women....Vroom, sucka!” says Tiga, the lyrical lampsman lighting the way down Dance Avenue.
