Filsonik, one of New York’s finest old school underground DJ/producers is down to make his debut on the illustrious Hot Creations imprint after his regular appearances at Circo Loco DC10 and close relationship with the Martinez Brothers brought him into orbit with Jamie Jones et al. A staple in Jamie’s sets at the moment and always creating a major impact on the dance floor, ‘Dogfish’ is testament to Filsonik’s nuanced production skills and flair for a killer groove and a ridiculously infectious swagger. Ever in demand, master remixer Jamie draws upon his classic persuasion for free styling wonkiness and rowdy basslines on the B side. Warping the origibal into darker territory and bleeping the beats into submission. Expect to hear bother version everywhere this summer.

Filsonik career as a producer started in 2006 under the wing of New York’s veteran house DJ Timmy Regisford of Club Shelter, a legendary weekly house night that ran for fifteen years. Co-productions with Regisford on Shelter’s label Unrestricted Tracks and Restricted Tracks showcased Filsonik’s sound. Fast forward to 2014 and Filsonik is still a close collaborator with fellow NYC Puerto Rican artists, uniting with The Martinez Brothers and Point G for the massive ‘What’s The Point?’ on Ever Lasting LOVE.

Jamie Jones, label head of the pioneering Hot Creations imprint, mastermind behind the decks and one fourth of the Hot Natured is still on top of his game and one of the best loved DJs on the circuit. After being voted as number one DJ in the world in 2012 by Resident Advisor, running the extremely popular Paradise events, now in their third season at DC10 Ibiza and tirelessly touring the globe, Jamie Jones is still the boss and will soon be seeing in the 50th release with something special. Bridging the gap between the psychedelic world-beat of newly launched sister-label Multi Culti and Turbo’s forward-looking techno and house stylings, these four tracks offer distinct yet consistently straightforward takes on the tribal trance-out. 

Visionquest-native Clarian’s icy-cool ‘Inuit’ kicks things off with a super hypnotic groove… the perfect soundtrack to an acid-ice-fishing trip gone right and an optimal DJ tool for the very early or very late hours. 

Berlin-resident and Canadian ex-pat Hreno (Fur Trade, Autochtone, etc) is next up with ‘Tree Trunks,’ an expertly assembled rhythm track built on top of a bubbling bassline sure to get the party rolling. 

Turbo and Multi Culti A&R Thomas Von Party takes the party from the forest into the jungle with ‘Pygmy Funk,’ an overtly primitive journey built on wood knocks, bird sounds and the deep throb of tom and bongo. 

Finally, the supremely-talented Mike Mind turns in a downtempo bomb that will highlight your cave-party playlist.

Zeds Dead & Oliver Heldens - You Know (Original Mix)

El Guincho side project gets the remix treatment from edit-champ Pilooski, Visionquest / Soft Touch mega-talent Clarian and Turbo / Multi Culti A&R Von Party.

Spanish musician Pablo Diaz-Reixa, best known for his psychedelic, tropical pop act El Guincho (released on Young Turks), posted 5 sample-based tribal tracks back in 2013 on the site tranc.es. The music drew the attention of John Talabot, who released two of them, titled simply '4' and '5,' onto his Hivern Discs label, as a vinyl-only release, which found it's way to Thomas Von Party and inspired this remix pack.

Pilooski hasn't released much music of late, but what he has put out has been of exceptional quality, with remixes for I:Cube and Tim Paris being highlights of 2014. His remix of Trances 4 is a sprawling modular head-trip, far out in every way, yet somehow listenable and versatile as a DJ tool. 

The increasingly prolific Clarian (formerly of Footprintz), flexes a progressive acid house builder out of Trances 5, proving his skill in yet another facet, after an incredibly wide range of releases ranging from indie rock on Seth Troxler's Soft Touch to indian chant-pop on his Multi Culti EP. It's a sonic departure from the original, but one that stays true to the verb in question.

Finally, Von Party brings the tempo down on to a smooth 116 BPM, restraining some of the abrasive elements to make for a low-slung crowd-pleaser that works equally as warm-up or late-night takedown - already played and supported by Tiga.

Also included in the package are the amazing originals, available for the first time digitally, and as a digital exclusive, a previously unheard alternate version of Trances 4. 

Trances Remixed is released on February 23, 2015

Turbo Recordings was founded by Tiga in Montreal back in 1998. In addition to launching his own career, the label has been integral in the success of acts like Chromeo, Gesaffelstein, Duke Dumont and most recently, ANNA & Charlotte de Witte.
