"Domingo a gente reativou o Thee Buttler's Orchestra, projeto de música a jato da Amanda Buttler comigo, e criamos, arranjamos, gravamos em oito canais, mixamos e masterizamos mais uma faixa no espaço de algumas horas (começamos no fim de tarde e estava online na madruga), essa ficou bem doida e chama 'Canela de Velho'.

Night of Insect

Being October, I'm incredibly late for this July collaboration prompt by @user295849933, but the melody of this piece has captured me. It's so haunting and beautiful, in fact, that I did... nothing, musically speaking.

Well, except the short intro, but that's minimal.

Initially I wanted to play the bass over it, but then I got the idea of turning it into voice. So I converted the piano piece to MIDI using an online tool, which did a half-decent job. I then loaded the MIDI part in Synthesizer V Studio (a kick-ass vocal synth by Dreamtonics), cleaned it up to be strictly monophonic, made subtle changes, added a bit of drama, and let the synthetic voice of Eleanor Forte sing it.

Then I added the same MIDI in Ardour, this time keeping all the polyphonic conversion artefacts, and had it played by Boing2 (an even more kick-ass bowed string virtual instrument by Xoxos).

The piano part is the original playing by Douglas. All I did was layering them together.

The result, in my opinion, is deliciously surreal. It has a nice pathos to it, and it's hilarious in some passages. All in all, I find it extremely pleasant :-)

In the midst of a wide open mountain valley in the central southern part of Colorado lies the Wet Mountain Valley. Nestled between the Sangres and the Wet mountain ranges is my home, and heaven. Well as close to it on planet earth as one could hope to get. If you don't believe me ask anyone who happens to live here.
