Originally from Chile, Vruno will stay the summer of 2016 in Germany/Europe. Sharing the stage usually with Nicola Cruz, Chancha via Circuito and Matanza, he treats a unique and revolutionary sound by mixing dub, folk, cumbia and house. In his live sets he combines forward going electronic elements with mystical and playful Latin American melodies, in which the flautas, charangos and drums stimulate the brain and inspire the soul to dream. You can smile, forget yourself and dance. He is also part of the Lotenheim family and will be an important part of the Festival Nomade showcases across Europe this summer.

It's Fridaaaaaaaay! <a href="https://soundcloud.com/djsatelite-luanda-angola" target="_blank">DJ Satelite</a> prepared us another round of afrohouse goodness, feels like a bit of Luanda nightlife delivered straight to your earbuds. Cover is a photo of <a href="https://www.facebook.com/pages/Elinga-Teatro/157782744288275" target="_blank">Elinga Teatro</a>, a place doomed to be destroyed sometime this year... it's an old colonial building soon to be replaced by a fancy glass skyscraper. It's also a place Satelite has rocked several times in the past months, possibly the most forward thinking music venue in Angola. Without further adue, the almighty tracklist:

DJ Satelite - Luanda No Horizonte Vol. 3

A short expedition into the much overlooked tipica cumbia sound of Panamá

The heartache, melancholy and joy in the Panamá Tipica sound is hard to match and like no other to experience. It comes from a rich background of regional musical traditions, carnival rivalry and hotbeds like the legendary 'Festival en Guarare'. As I understand it, Panamanian cumbia was first played on violin until the arrival of accordions on the Isthmus, most early acordeoneros were violinists first and foremost. This mixtape comprises of some of the best 45s from the Herrera and Los Santos provinces, from the mid 50s through to late 60s. Over the last few years I've had the good fortune to meet several of these wonderful artists. Featured here: Dorindo, Papi Brandao, Oswaldo,Fito Espina, Ulpiano, Ceferino and more... (photo compliments of Papi Brandao). Viva Panamá!

This is a selection of a handful of Angolan 45s that have proven their spirit & longevity in my record collection. Here's to the slap-echo guitars, scratchy dikanza, hope, aspiration and musical beauty that flowered from Luanda. This sound has long informed the systems of Barranquilla and parallels cumbia, samba & compas in sonic ancestral synchronicity.
