My camera was rolling 
Recording the trade 
Of powder for pesos 
The Mexicans made 

It was strapped to my side 
And securely concealed 
From ten sets of eyeballs 
In a cocoa bean field 

See, I suckered them into 
Accepting my front 
As a two bit reporter 
On a fact finding hunt 

When they asked what was strapped to my side, I said “Nada” 
For fear of receiving the whole enchilada 

My hands and my feet 
Had been fastened together 
I was sweating profusely 
Because of the weather 

I got none of the food 
Or the water I needed 
My colon had packed up 
Its shit and retreated 

They were holding me hostage 
Until they were sure 
That my motives for having 
A camera were pure 

Which they weren’t meaning I would be Carne Asada 
I unwittingly purchased the whole enchilada 

He mumbles in Spanish 
He points and he chuckles 
He lunges and contacts 
My face with his knuckles 

And I attempted to bargain 
With a muchacho’s grammar 
“Free me and no one 
Will rot in the slammer” 

But he ignored my proposal 
Like I’d made it in fun 
And he banged my cabeza 
With the butt of his gun 

A Grand Canyon snooze or a sundown sonata 
Yours when you purchase the whole enchilada   

I dreamt I was skiing 
On a blanket of snow 
I was nervous and armed to the teeth 

A dead human being 
Popped up from below 
And said “there’s room for one more underneath”.
