A nostalgic look back at childhood…memories of visits to my Acadian grandmother in the Acadian village of Kippens, NL. Honouring the memories of grandmothers everywhere…

Now home to grandma in her strawberry bed.

This is a song that JJ came up with on the electric piano and shared with the rest of us. He's done a significant portion of the songwriting for the Eclectic Collective, and always gives us quality songs, to which are easy to add our voices. When he sent it to us, he had a rough bass on there that sounded like Lust for Life. Ken came up with a killer and appropriate beat, which, if you can picture Lust For Life, included a lot of accentuated bass kicks. So, Josh took and went with that, and came up with a funky bass line. Ken and he kicked it back and forth a few times till they linked up. Then JJ added some funky ass organ and trippy retro synth to spice it up.
  Then it was time to send it to the guitarist. Tez laid down some smoking lead solos throughout, with his signature fiery guitar tone and amazing licks. Then Stephen funked it up even more with a fonky-ass wah guitar track. 
  Ken produced and mixed this one for us, and what an excellent job he did, too. This was so much fun to create. We all hope you enjoy listening to our jam as much as we did playing it.

For lunch, I enjoyed a hot, steaming bowl of bat stew 
And a monkey brain sandwich as I’d grown accustomed to do 
Later that day I was coughing and that’s when I knew 
I had multiple symptoms consistent with having the flu 

I finished and took a commuter train back to the plant 
Maybe where you live you could call in sick ‘round here you can’t 
Maybe where you live you’re a person, ‘round here you’re an ant 
My job is assembling iPhones, opportunities's scant 

I was patient zero. 
Neither villain nor hero 
I was a nothing, a nobody, one of a vast multitude

Just a regular guy who made terrible choices in food. 

On the crowded train home, my sneezes and coughs surely spread 
The virus contracted from the wild game upon which I’d fed 
My wife met me at the door, took one look at me and put me to bed 
We could not have imagined I’d shortly thereafter be dead. 

Later that evening it was clear I’d been mortally stricken 
And with each passing hour, the end of my journey would quicken 
You might ask why I ate a food with such a potential to sicken 
Hey! Don’t knock till you tried it.  Bat tastes a whole lot like chicken.
