PROLIX

Prolix will be a familiar name to most hardened Drum and Bass heads, with a back catalogue that has seen releases on some of the most prolific and respected labels in the industry such as RAM, Playaz & Ganja Tek, VISION, Blackout, Renegade Hardware, Metalheadz, Viper, Virus, OWSLA/MTA and most recently signing exclusively to Shogun Audio. His unique style of production has achieved international recognition filling Prolix with the courage he needed to establish his own imprint in 2011; cue the birth of the mighty Trendkill Records. 

As his reputation has grown, Prolix has found himself collaborating with an array of top artists from across the genre such as Noisia, Misanthrop, and Icicle, as well as remixing the likes of Chase and Status, Ed Rush and Optical, and Black Sun Empire. 
It was with his work for Chase and Status that led to an introduction to d&b pioneer DJ Hype which began the conception of Ganja Tek for the sole purpose of releasing his distinct sound. Since then, Prolix' production has gone from strength to strength, securing radio support from several BBC radio DJs including Friction and Mary Ann Hobbs. 

One of his most seminal releases to date was the visionary crowd funded 'Project Trendkill' Album, a collaboration with Gridlok  which soared to the top of the download charts and into every self respecting DJ’s record bags the world over. Teaming up with Gridlok had previously come up trumps again, drawing the attention of RAM Records head honcho Andy C, with their debut 12" of 'Membrane' and 'Babylon' devastating soundsystems worldwide. 

Other landmark releases for Prolix include 'Crater' on Renegade Hardware with Nocturnal, 'Asteroids' on VISION with NOISIA, 'On Like That' EP with MC Coppa, and the 'Transcendent' EP on Trendkill featuring collabs with Misanthrop, Mob Tactics, Rido, Meth and MC Coppa again. 


Having toured America, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, Prolix is well known for his high energy, floor-filling DJ sets. As well as doing his own headline shows accross Europe, he has also shared the stage with some of the top names in drum and bass including Chase and Status, Subfocus, and Pendulum. 

With Trendkill continuing to gather a strong and dedicated following release after release, and since having signed to Shogun and releasing his smash debut single 'Nature of Rality', Prolix is on track to becomming one of the biggest artists in the scene.

Bass in Darkness is a Drum & Bass Record Label Focusing on pushing fresh underground talent from the uk and beyond. We share a mutual love of dark, techy drum & bass, although we are involved with a range of other bass-led genres. We DJ and write music individually and together. We run the AutomAte family of digital labels, including AutomAte, AutomAte Deep and AutomAte Tech. AutomAte aims to bring you the best in edgy drum & bass, aimed square at the dancefloor, from rising stars to established artists, from chunky steppers to dark rollers and all manner of other fancy-ticklers. The parent label has already chalked up Radio 1 airplay from Friction, support from Drum & Bass Arena and has caught the attention of more DJs than you could shake a stick-insect at.

The Deep label aims to put the warmth back into drum & bass with a range of deep, eclectic, inspirational music, influenced by anything from the Far East to South America and everything in between. AutomAte Deep was launched in 2013 and has already picked up Radio 1 airplay from Nihal plus support from Raiden, EBK, Morphy, The Untouchables, Mental Forces, J Robinson, Ortokore, Philth, Stunna, Marukomu, Dexta & Mauoq (Diffrent Music).

The Tech label showcases a variety of gritty drum & bass music, from amen tracks and heavy-steppers to neuro and hardcore styles. We like it grimy with a slight attitude problem and an infectious groove.
