With his last EP offering on Keinemusik, &ME displayed himself once again as supplier of anthems that easily reconcile style with general floor purpose. You would think, such an universal and inexhaustible tune as this very “After Dark” can only be a lucky hit. But no, he’s knocking out the classic material just like that. Another example? Catalog number KM028, his brandnew “Trilogy” EP.
The titletrack on A initially places a synth arpeggio behind a kick that in dryness is hardly to excel. The beat of "Trilogy" is then seasoned with rimshot patterns until the saturated bassdrum comes in and paves the way to the dancefloor. &ME even refines his knack for stoic grooves on this jam and once again shows his sure feeling for suitable vocal features. Sabotas croon comes devoid of big gestures and still knows the ropes to appeal to the collective mentality of a clubcrowd.
On the flipside, “Woods” is living up to its name from the very beginning. Woody percussions are thumping within an almost subtropical scenario that’s frequently pervaded by mighty synth clouds. And once again, there’s an arpeggio sneaking in that at some point is taking the lead in this strictly instrumental affair. Add a break building that will educe a floor’s complete euphoric potential without going for the rather mindless escalation and there you have it: a B-side that’s actually more of an A-competitor.

Nick Beringer finds himself on Organic Music once again, this time supplying two tracks to the 'Synergy' EP, which also includes two tracks from Wax Isgud head honcho Tato.

Mixmag presents the exclusive premiere of Beringer's 'High Lines', a stripped back floor filler from the depths of the deepest deep house. The German producer has been steadily carving out his place in the underground with releases on Taverna Tracks and Käse Kool, while also launching his Rubisco label earlier this year. Expect more raw grooves to surface soon from this fresh talent.

Look for the 'Synergy' EP to be released September 15.

Next up in the “Apparel Music Limited” series is Loure with a 4 track EP which also includes a remix by Saine. The name of this work by the Aussie is “Smooth Talk” and it contains all the stylistic elements that make the Melbournian one of the most talented in the scene at the moment. The EP kicks off with the title track which can be certified as a dancefloor banger with its solid rhythmics and the “smooth” synths playing along with a hint of acid ; keeps going with Mutual Motion which gives a display of what this guy can do in terms of creating spacey deep harmonies, such a groovy way to lower the tones before The remix of the 1st track “Smooth Talk”. Saine here puts his signature once again with another banging tune crafted on Loure sounds, adding his touch with deep percussions, a substantial compact beat with a Bass-line that will get you carried away. The closing track is the right decompression after a journey through sounds: rolling snares, vocal samples chasing each other and a happy touch to finish in style. Soundway Records present ’24 Hours in A Disco 1978 - 82’, 7 cuts of relentless disco grooves from the sublimely gifted Kiki Gyan. Hailed as Africa’s answer to Stevie Wonder, Ghanaian multi-instrumentalist Kiki Gyan was a musical wunderkind who by 1975 had risen from the lowly status of high school dropout to being ranked eighth in a poll of the greatest keyboardists in the world (occupying the rarefied air of the top ten with heavyweights like Steve Winwood, Billy Preston, and Stevie Wonder) as well as becoming an in-demand session player in the top recording studios of London - all before his twenty-first birthday. 

Out on his own, he produced a series of highly ambitious disco records aimed at positioning him as an international star, but weighed down by the excesses of the era, Gyan saw his meteoric rise matched by an equally swift fall back into obscurity. 

Loved dearly by his contemporaries and sorely missed since his death in 2005 the story of the life of Kofi Kwarko ‘Kiki’ Gyan is one often told with warning by his friends to the new generation of aspiring Ghanaian popstars.

Soundway Records now collects the best of Gyan’s work as a frontman and solo artist, featuring an array of electrifying disco grooves that still sound contemporary (and in some cases futuristic) decades after their initial release.

Released on CD and 2xLP both formats are accompanied with detailed liner notes written by Uchenna Ikonne. LP version comes with a free MP3 download of the release.
