An extended remix of Diesel's Theme, I decided to add an extra verse and some instrumentation. The strings that come in the 2nd verse are something I've had in my head for ages and I've always wanted to remix that in. 

Diesel's theme is known for having an Arabian/Latin vibe to it but instead I thought I'd add some Indian elements with the Sitar as I thought it suited the vibe of the theme. Plus, the castanets were a catchy touch.

This episode combines two very oposite characters: Percy and Diesel.  It was a lot of fun to try and mix the two polar opposite themes together!  I think I succeeded!  Enjoy!

Haunted Henry is, in my opinion, an excellent ghost story, so I was very happy when JoeTrainBoy asked me to score his adaptation!  His version of the story is my favorite of the ones I've seen.  I think I did it justice!  Enjoy and Happy Halloween!

He's Back - .05 Haunted Henry (Original Soundtrack)

Spokane, Portland & Seattle 700 was built in 1938 and remained in service until 1956.  In 1958, she was donated to the City of Portland, Oregon and was placed on static display.

During her stay in Oaks Park, she was kept company by Southern Pacific 4449 and Oregon Railroad and Navigation Co. 197. All three engines were saved from the slow decay of time by a man named Jack Holst, who regularly visited the locomotives, keeping them well-greased and oiled.  Although he died in 1972 before any of the locomotives were restored, his work saved the engines and all three have returned to full steam. 

700 was restored to working condition in 1990.  She is the third largest steam locomotive in operation, and although she is very expensive to run and insure, she is still operated out of the Oregon Rail Heritage center in Portland.  "The Lady" was added to the National Register of Historic places in 2006 and is currently being restored to full steam once again.

The Northern Type steam locomotive was a triumph of American steam railroading.  First introduced in 1926, these beasts roamed the coastlines and mountain passes of the nation’s busiest routes until as late as 1963.

They were fast, strong, reliable, versatile, and were very popular with passengers.  The locomotives were characterized by their eight 80-inch diameter driving wheels and four supporting wheels on each end of the massive boiler. 

They were called by many names: “Greenbrier”, “Dixie”, “Niagara”, and “Potomac,” just to name a few, but their most common name was “Northern”, and so they are commonly known today.

Many were preserved after retirement and one even remains active on the locomotive roster of a Class I railroad to this day.  These engines are like ghosts of the rails.  Specters, haunting the line, crying out after a bygone era, the like of which had never been seen before, nor ever will be seen again.

Spokane, Portland & Seattle 700 "The Lady" - .09 Ghosts of the Northern

Chessie 614 was built in June 1948 and was retired in 1952.  In 1955, she was pulled out of retirement for heavy freight trains, but was retired just one year later and was placed on the so-called “scrap line” with several other Chesapeake and Ohio steam engines.  

In 1975, 614 was taken off the scrap line and was sent to the B&O Railroad Museum in Baltimore, Maryland for cosmetic restoration and static display.  In 1979, 614 was traded to a man named Ross  Rowland, who restored her to full steam over the next 18 months.  

In January and February of 1985, she hauled coal trains in West Virginia, as her fuel consumption costs were lower than most diesels at the time.  She ran excursion services until 2000.   

She was last serviced in 2006, and was moved to the C&O Heritage Center in Clifton Forge, Virginia in 2011.  Interest in operating her as a special excursion engine had waned by 2012 and the project was canceled in May that year.  Now, 614 sits on static display in Clifton Forge.

Chessie 614 - .06 Ghosts of the Northern

Southern Pacific 4449 was built in May 1944 and was operated until 1956, when she was placed in storage.    

During her service life, 4449 was assigned to the Coast Daylight express passenger train, and led many of Southern Pacific’s other named trains.  She was kept as a backup locomotive from September 1956 to October 1957.  

In 1958, 4449 was donated to the City of Portland, Oregon, and was place on static display until 1974.  4449 was brought back to life for the 1976 American Freedom Train as part of America’s Bicentennial celebration.  

4449 is currently based out of Portland, Oregon and is maintained by the Friends of SP 4449.  She is known by railfans as “The Daylight” or “The Queen of Steam” and continues to be one of the most popular steam engines in North America.

When the occasion presents itself, I love to throw in real instruments into these tracks. Here I did the Guitar and Bass myself. Diesel's theme is so dark and misty, I knew it'd work well with some smooth Blues and Latin vibes. Hope you enjoy! :)
