The mutant jazz quartet Flying Fish Jumps began in Brussels in 2008. Created & leaded by the composer and clarinettist Vincent Ghilbert who has developed its own sound of Hybrid/Mutant Jazz, principally relying on his incredible compositions that bounces with humor between a lot of different unexpected spheres.

In order to dedicate themselves to the tradition of improvisation, their meticulously arranged music mixes each of their respective musical influences, alternating the manipulation of sound, contemplative ambiances and unbridled rhythms.

Thirsty for the sounds of todayʼs world, the quartet broadens its jazz while undoing its eccentricity, making the music accessible to a lot of people that likes progressive music. Nicknamed as « Wild in the fishbowl » or « Weightless aliens », Flying Fish Jumps "is one of the best actual jazz quartet in Belgium today!".

Acclaimed in international festivals like Tourcoing Jazz Festival (France, with a.o. Wayne Shorter Quartet) or Jazz à Liège (Belgium, with a.o. Erik Truffaz), and building on their stage experience (Baiser Salé in Paris, Tournée Jazz Tour – Lundis dʼHortense, Jazz en Nord in France,…). Their newly recorded EP "Live at the Blue Flamingo" as their album "Road Trip", have captured their new eclectic fusion and some of their incredible electric sounds.
