Trouble times is the result of a collaboration between Ullip, Steven Craven and Stephan Hendricks. Made in a time of deep depression during the Covid era. The problems of the time, the oppressive feeling of life during this time, are reflected in the piece, but so is the way out of it. The beauty and harmony of diving back into life. It consists of two parts. The first part is an energetic rebellion against everything that was happening. Driving drums by Ullip and extatic keyboards by Stephan Hendricks symbolise this. In the second part, Steven Craven's wonderful trumpet solo heralds the way to inner centre and harmony. A piece with a happy ending.
The cover was designed by the artist Janine Werner. She painted a picture especially for it, which brilliantly translated the mood of our music. She lives and works in the artist's creative space "Güterhallen" in Solingen. I thank her very much for this successful work.

Riding Waves is a flowing dreamy ride on the building swell of sonic waves created by the interplay of uplifting synths, majestic guitar, and etherial vocals. Not, and this marks its artistic profile, not additively, "side by side". Ullip combines these functions in order to let a new something emerge from them. CDs whose tracks do not preserve and reproduce "played music" as is usually the case. But CDs where the music is created by editing, mixing and recording it "on the fly". The CD as an audience, so to speak. With the great advantage that - in contrast to live sessions - one can enjoy the cuts of the CDs over and over again.
Based on a rich musical experience and an almost "wild" past, Ullip - together with other musicians - has today found a style that activates and inspires a special genre:

'Chained music'.

Sounds and pieces, music and rhythms that are played in a self-inspiring way or created on technical devices. Born in the moment, just like jazz. Also, not only as in jazz, given as a theme, otherwise improvised. Above all, they are not reproductions in the sense of notated notes. All the elements that stand between the first beat and sound of a live gig, a studio recording and the final burning process on a CD are interlinked to create what the "piece" recorded on silver discs ultimately is.
