Zero Cult is the project of Emil Ilyayev from Israel, who has been producing electronic music for well over a decade. The project was born in 2003 after discovering the new sound of downtempo and chill out music in the underground scene. Emil's music has a unique sound, that combines mysterious melodies and vibes with downtempo beats. His debut album "Art of Harmony" was described as the best chill album of 2006. Combining carefully designed textures with dreamlike atmospheres and a solid rhythmic structure, Zero Cult sends us on a new journey through his original musical universe. His discography is a collection of contemporary ambient gems, that demands frequent listening and will surprise you with new sounds bursting out from nowhere. DJ MAGGIE brings you this "Fizziology" titled DJ set about which she says: "The majority of this mix was recorded live as an opening set for Moontribe's New Year's Day Vibe 2024 in Los Angeles. Since I ended that set with unreleased music, I trimmed the last two tracks and added two tracks to the beginning in the studio. Some new music mixed with some classic favorites!" DJ Maggie carefully curates the best of downtempo electronic into lush, playful and deeply replenishing sets that invite listeners on shimmering audio odysseys. It was early 2013 when inner landscapes finally got
audible. Martin van Rossum aka Martin Nonstatic
moved to Cologne while Jens from Essen sent a
pleasant release offer. Several EPs, remix and
packaging projects got finished and the favorite
synthesizer was back on duty again, leading to the
first track „Inner Landscapes“ which in turn also
provided the album's title.
Martin took 14 months scrutinizing his workflow
involving both software and hardware to invent fresh
track concepts for his album. Constantly inspired by
the Rhenish environment with all of its movements
and encounters the album concentrated on those
„inner landscapes“. Playful and liberated he
combined field recordings with soundscapes, voices
and nature sounds into deep sequence paths.
Wave noises and Indonesian voices trickle onto the
album’s opening track „Behind The Window“ and the
dub oriented „Gilli Nangu“ while a fine dusty
crackle meets deep dub chords and sonic ideas
salvaged from earlier live sessions and synthesizer
recordings throughout the album, supported by
electro-ambient and minimal beat structures and
alternating rhythmic patterns, clearly showcasing
Martin’s extensive experience of both analyzing and
producing ambient and dub techno sounds.
Embedded between its otherworldly opening and a
dreamy outro are 11 aural landscapes forming a 74
minute tour-de-force, and after its long production
phase the emotional waveforms and clear ideas of
Martin Nonstatic’s „Inner Landscapes“ have finally
found their place and are ready to be heard on the
outside.

It’s worth the long wait, especially when it comes to Ambient, don’t rush it - it’s not fast food music. Here at Sofa Beats we love it slowly cooked and that’s what Christian Samsara gave us. Beside being a good friend he is a Danish-born DJ and avid records collector, embarked on his journey into electronic music during his early teenage years. It was during this time that he stumbled upon the ambient genre, which swiftly blossomed into his profound passion and eventually led him behind the decks.
Throughout the course of his DJ career, Christian has graced numerous festivals and events worldwide. Additionally, he has curated countless mixes for well-known podcast channels and shows such as Inveins, Campfire Stories by Silent Season, 꿈 Kkum, Orb Magazine, just to name a few, revealing his expertise in ambient, downtempo, IDM, and deep techno. His mixes are characterized by a unique blend of abstract cinematic soundscapes and intricate layers of organic textures.
In 2015, Christian Samsara became a part of Ultimae Records, his first compilation, "Isolated," was released in 2022 and he currently works on a second chapter to be released in 2024.

For our 38th installment of the Rusted Rhythms series, Rust family favorites pheel. and parkbreezy have resurrected their Featherbed set to showcase loads of original tracks and a few choice flips and remixes. Co-founders of the all.Lo label, and the brains behind the Morning Coffee project, these two producer/dj's have their fingers on the pulse of trip-hop's many varieties, creating their signature blends through an infusion head-nod fundamentals with ample servings of saturated bass weight.

Right from the jump, they zero in on the vibe of the hour, delivering smooth cuts of collaged melodies and brackish drum breaks. Their own individual styles meet at the nexus of broken beats and juiced-up sub frequencies, balancing the high of a listening experience with the pull of a physical experience. Derived from the Latin “Ultimae Terrae,” meaning “the furthest places,” the name Ultimae reflects a profound theme of exploration. This concept is at the heart of Ultimae Records, an ambient music record label and publisher dedicated to transporting listeners to the outer edges of experience through sound and offering a space for introspection and discovery within the vastness of the mind and beyond.

In 1999, Vincent Villuis and Sandrine Gryson, also known as AES Dana and Mahiane, united over a shared passion for the immersive world of electronic music. This collaboration led to the birth of the label. Initially envisioned as a musical portal, Ultimae’s mission was to explore and disseminate the diverse expressions of Ambient music far and wide through the production of records and the establishment of an online shop.

Over the years, Ultimae has expanded beyond its original scope, evolving into a multifaceted company with sound design, post-production, and mastering studios based in Lyon, France, along with professional services in publishing, music licensing, and synchronization.
