DJ and producer, Dieru is anytging but a beginner. His tracks are played ans supported by many artist such as Arapu, Barac & Mountain People. This time he is on Fantastic Friends Recordings with this wonderful EP that we are more than excited to share with you. Bonus, our dearst friend Giorgio Maulini will be joining for a remix.

Following EPs from Matthew Burton and Seuil, the third release on Sammy Dee's Ultrastretch label introduces one of Berlin's most intriguing outsiders: Albert Schwartz. A native of Ghana now based in Germany, Schwartz has been DJing and making tracks for years, but aside from a few gigs with Sammy at Club der Visionäre, has mostly been kept secret until now. With Berry Deep / Drop, he shows a modern and organic style of house that makes him a perfect fit for the Berlin-based label.      

"Berry Deep" is true to its name: subtle, plodding and atmospheric, driven by an elliptical vocal bit. Much like Ultrastretch's past releases (or old Perlon records for that matter), it's the tiny, meticulous details that breath life into this one, like the bubbling major chords competing with the mournful strings, or the ghostly, almost imperceptible Marvin Gaye samples ("Hey brother! What's happenin...."). "Drop" brings the energy up a notch without losing its subtle touch. The drums are punchier and have a bit more momentum, but the tone is still somehow hushed. This time Marvin takes center stage, with lines from "Inner City Blues" strewn across the track. 

The EP's remix comes from Rhadoo, a core member of Romania's a:rpia:r crew (along with Raresh and Petre Inspirescu) and a past guest at Sammy Dee's Ultrastretch parties at Club der Visionäre. His microhouse "restyle" of "Berry Deep" gives the original a trippy edge, plus a bit more club-friendly oomph.

Right from the start, the bold confident and chunky beat of "Jaz Hans" made us feel this was no joking matter! This dubby tech house track is a well-produced piece of music. The nicely placed vocal snippets keep the groove going as we move towards darker jazzy, almost confusing atmospheres with rhodes & vibraphones and suddenly we are greeted by somewhat unexpected yet very welcome tribal chanting voices - wow! Jaz Hans has just the right amount of ingredients, combined with a subtle narration.

Risky biscuit takes the energy level slightly up a notch with a more "straight forward" construction. We absolutely loved how the contrast set us straight when the solid beat kicks back in after the lovely enchanting cello foray. In these challenging times, we really can't wait to see the damage these two will be doing on the floor!

This summer (3rd July) Oslo based promoters and acclaimed record label, Det Gode Selskab will release their 2020 sampler on Bandcamp. The first in what is set to become an extensive list of contemporary annual samplers from the imprint. After several years of business, earning their stripes as a vital part of night culture in Norway, the tight knit set up pride themselves on their open minded, family-like community, a stronghold at the forefront of the gay and queer community in Oslo. Standing in solidarity, striving to educate and reignite the unforgettable history of house music and the avalanche effect it has had on modern dance music. An effect which should never be tarnished, but echoed time and time again. House music from the start, in spaces such as US warehouses in the 80’s, have always provided a safe haven for black, queer and alternative people, paving the way for the people of today, a space for freedom, allowing creativity to flourish.

Enhancing their strong beliefs, and what they strive to achieve as a whole, acknowledging the effect that disco, house, hip hop, funk, soul, jazz and rock has had on modern society, the sampler release will work towards donations for Black History Month Norway with 50% of sales in July being donated to them, going towards further operations and developments of the project.
