For this special guest mix, Maria Amor and Shcuro present a sonic snapshot of Paraíso, the Lisbon-based label, radio show and documentary project dedicated to the roots and legacy of Portuguese dance music. Recorded ahead of the international premiere of their documentary Paraíso at Melkweg during Amsterdam Dance Event, the mix reflects the label’s dual mission: to preserve the memory of Portugal’s 90s rave culture while continuing to push forward with new and urgent club music. From rave stabs and breakbeats, to Detroit techno/electro and portuguese acid house, the selection moves through past and present, channeling the energy of an underground scene that was once described as house music from a paradise called Portugal. As co-founders of Paraíso, Maria Amor and Shcuro weave together sounds that honour the initial spark of those early dancefloors spirit while imagining what comes next.

The ACCENTAPE series returns this winter with the label’s fifteenth cassette release. To mark the occasion, a new split was created, one side each, continuing the label’s aim to share music without limits of style, genre, or signature.

This time, Sub Accent, founder of the label, shares ACCENTAPE010 with his long-time friend Accou, an artist active in the Belgian experimental underground scene. His sound blends elements of ambient, sleep music, breakbeat, experimental, tribal, and neo-classical influences. The result is detailed and textured, with fluid synths and crafted rhythms that meet soft, layered melodies. Together, these four tracks bring a forward-looking and urban feel.

On side B, Sub Accent offers an EP shaped like the soundtrack of an imaginary science fiction film, with both bright and shadowy tones. It recalls early works from artists such as FUSE or Plastikman, exploring a futuristic and slightly dystopian world. Minimalist yet rhythmic, this part of the release moves through different atmospheres, from spacey and mental techno to energetic breakbeats, ambient passages, and metallic sound design.

With “Over Empathy”, Kletis continues his exploration of the misty borderlands between techno, bass music and dubs, delivering a dense, poetic and introspective EP where sound itself seems to breathe under the rain. Born in the humid forests of northern Czechia, his sonic world carries the mark of a half-lit realm, heavy with melancholy yet vibrating with restrained strength.

Each track shapes a shifting landscape, both dark and hypnotic, from the subterranean tension of Parametric to the organic pulse of RukaRuka, leading to the fragile beauty of the title track Over Empathy, the true heartbeat of the release. Two remixes extend this journey, Fallen Tape unveils a mystical and ethereal vision, like an echo from another plane, while Sub Accent reveals a more vivid, dub-infused energy.

Balancing inner fog and ritual depth, Kletis sculpts music that seeks not to belong but to feel, a language of textures, shadows and light, where every frequency turns into vibration and empathy becomes sound.

Echoes from the Abyss (Detroit Electro / Breakbeat)

For today’s premiere we have the return of the poison dart frog aka GIFKIKKER, the Belgian imprint with whom we spoke a few months ago for our Label Spotlight series. Known for having a razor sharp, psychedelic edge as well as a deep connection to the natural world, they takes things in a softer direction this time with some light & airy drum & bass. You never quite know what to expect from the collective but they work hard to create a common thread of atmospheric consistency which really shows. They’re also committed to showcasing local talent bubbling within the Belgian scene.

The 4-track EP is the debut from Belgian newcomer Blossoms Overnight. The first track on the release, ‘Aumira’, is a beautiful deep breath of ambience with sparse, floaty breakbeats peppered throughout & a steady dubby groove. It’s a track for those moments when the sun just starts to come up over the horizon in the early hours of the morning, ushering in warmth & the promise of a new day. The EP includes a remix from a fellow Belgian artist a.brehme which was premiered recently by our friends over at Oslated.

‘GIFKIKKER011’ is set to release digitally on November 14th.

After a series of podcasts in recent months, the new London-based imprint Ebbs & Flows presents its inaugural release: Owl’s Spectral Shadows. The record feels like an artist and a label meeting on the same wavelength, both drawn to subtle tension and to spaces where rhythm holds its breath. Owl has always had a way of turning minimal means into emotional weight, and this release extends that curiosity into something more cinematic, but never indulgent.

Our premiere, “Infinite Dusk,” is the shadow at the edge of that world. It moves with the patience of fog drifting through an empty dockyard - rhythm suspended in its own breath, melody folded into vapor. The halftime pulse anchors an atmosphere thick with suggestion: faint strings flicker like reflections on water, while metallic cries echo in the distance. It’s a track that lives in the moment before something happens, and lingers there just long enough to make you feel it might.

Infinite Dusk and the rest of the Spectral Shadows EP are coming out on November 27.

PREMIERE: Owl - Infinite Dusk [Ebbs & Flows]

No. 10 in our Explorations Mix Series comes from the supremely talented Eclecticist (@eclectivity) who draws from a wide range of bassy sounds and styles. With the title of Pirate Studios' 2019 'Pirate Prodigy' winner under his belt and his regular Eclectivity radio show on 1020 Radio, he's been carving out his own lane.

Heavily influenced by soundystem culture from a young age, he cohesively weaves various sub-heavy rhythms together, masterfully flipping from deep, sumptuous sounds to light and euphoric shades at the drop of a hat. This one's a juicy one!
