Here's an excerpt from our five-hour musical journey on the ambient floor OFF at this year's Nachtiville Festival. We started playing at night and continued into the early hours of the morning. It was definitely challenging to navigate through various moods. However, we thoroughly enjoyed our first time playing together and showcasing different facets of our music collections.

Perhaps best known under his former Volte-Face alias, this wide-ranging hour finds Clark reigniting his fundamentally eclectic sensibility, seamlessly blending records from Black Merlin, Idjut Boys and The Parallax Corporation, spanning twenty-five years of music at the authentic margins.

“I started DJing nearly 20 years ago, at least partially inspired by the way Erol used to play at Trash and later Bugged Out and beyond. I was lucky enough to book him over the years at our Adventures In The Beetroot Field parties as well as Field Day and even the Lock Tavern, which I used to programme back then. As I drifted more towards exploring techno under my Volte-Face moniker, our paths diverged somewhat, and a few years went by when I didn't bump into him or see him play all that often. So this mix feels like a homecoming of sorts, and an expression of a rekindled musical freedom and a cherished friendship. I even managed to squeeze in a track by Tiga, who was another formative influence for me. I hope it's as fun to listen to the mix as it was to make it.” - Casper Clark

For the 60th. entry in the Fun Fun Mix series, we present Andrew Thomson. Chipping away at the coalface of electronic music for the past 18 years, Andrew has overseen as many poorly attended events as he has sell outs. With a commitment to adventurous and forward thinking events and record releases, Andrew has introduced many exciting new faces to his hometown of Glasgow and the world of music at large. He also runs Clyde Built Radio station and Connections podcast, and he also curates Huntleys & Palmers, a promotional outfit and label releasing music by artists around the world. He has even released an EP by DJs Pareja called "Steps" and the remix they made for Argentine band Ibiza Pareo. Look out for The Andrew Thomson Experience coming to you soon.

"I was very honoured to be invited to contribute to the FUN FUN mix series. I have a great deal of admiration for Djs Pareja and I’m very inspired by their enduring love and the musical world they’ve created around them.

I have had very fun (fun) experiences with them visiting the UK and also was a great honour to play at the FUN FUN party at the infamous Shamrock Basement in Buenos Aires. 

With all of this in mind, I wanted to do something special for the mix but I originally put too much pressure on the outcome and wasn’t ever happy with the result. Instead, I recently recorded a bunch of records I’ve enjoyed discovering and I recorded something quite loose and unplanned on a rare sunny day in Glasgow. Hope you enjoy wherever you are! Huge thanks to Mariano and Diego. Spanish IS beautiful. DJs Pareja forever ♥️♥️♥️"

Okay, this UV Funk show is totally not-to-be-missed material. It is dedicated to the hidden treasures from former Yugoslavia. Due to the Western-centric coverage of pop music’s history it is easy to miss some of this awesome music that ranges from obscure Boogie records to cosmic synth epics. To unearth these beauties via their @discom-1 label is the purpose of Belgrade-based music aficionados Luka Novakovic and Vanja Todorovic. After putting out the re-release of Boban Petrovic “Zora”-LP under the now-defunkt Disco not Disco imprint, Luka and Vanja started Discom. So far, they’ve released four LPs, among them an excellent compilation called “Yugoslavian Space Program” that brought together synth and Kraut masterpieces from a time period spanning the years between 1981 and 2015. Only recently they released the album “Sidarta” from the experimental/ jazz fusion collective 37°C. 

But if you listen to this mix they’ve put together for UV Funk it seems as if these releases were just the tip of the iceberg. Happy digging!

Starting as a label that served basically as a platform for their friends’ music in 2010, Uncanny Valley evolved into a record label that assembles acclaimed artists from the electronic music scene not only from the label’s base in Dresden but also from Germany and beyond. With a strong emphasis on the records’ artwork the label heads Philipp Demankowski, Conrad Kaden and Carl-Johannes Schulze are constantly on a mission to establish and refine the artists from the roster as well as to search for new talents. Artists as Jacob Korn, Cuthead, Credit 00, Massimiliano Pagliara, CVBox or Panthera Krause all feel at home on the label, giving them the chance to develop projects that are not only music related but can also integrate different art forms. With the two offshoots Rat Life and shtum under its belt, Uncanny Valley does not stand still to explore the full spectrum of electronic and not so electronic music from House via Disco, Hip-Hop or Ambient through to Techno. A range that can also be depicted when the three label heads come together for a DJ set as Uncanny Valley DJs.
