Biotop is an unprecedented live electronic music project created by Grzegorz Gadziomski (violin, loops, electronics) and Miłek Smyl(electronic instruments). Derived from both artists’ musical explorations, Biotope’s work bases on the fusion of minimal/melodic techno with an unorthodox approach to the instruments enhanced by a wide variety of effects, resulting in an innovative, diverse musical experience.

And talking of weird how about a word or a million for UNCLE IAN THE TOOTH DECAY, a right bunch of clever bastards based in Winchester, UK and Oslo, Norway who claim they don't make short tapes and so sent, instead, a 14 track madhouse of modem technological sketches titled "The Urban Picnic". Someday, chaps, quite possibly around December 2003, I'll have finally assimilated the scope of this magnificent/misguided (?) achievement and I'll let you know then my considered opinion. But can I just say that for now that you've got more humour but less crucial suss than Skidoo (ie: your radio treatments are a wee bit obvious), more guts but less maudlin than Eno and more imagination than the rest of the playbackers all put together. What else? Well, most of this sounds like Ennio Morricone gone ape in an optics factory, by no means unlistenable but at times point1essly unruly or disappointingly repetitive. I mean, just what are you doing to that dog? Why is that woman screaming? Is that Monty echoed into oblivion? Just who is Nick and why is he.on "candid tape" and...oh sorry casual reader, I forgot you sitting there. "The Urban Picnic" is the sort of album Pink Floyd would be making today if they hadn't grown fat, rich and complacent; brave rather than brilliant. An experience that flatly refuses to recognise any rules or boundaries for lnstrumental experimentation and all recorded live In Dave's front room on a borrowed AKAI 4000DS stereo reel to reel.

God.. .it says here they once dld a "gig". The brain boggles.
