Beyond a Kasper Bjørke guest spot and a smattering of live performances, there isn't much to kooky Icelandic group Sísý Ey's name. Well, until now – and what a way to make an entrance. "Do It Good" is outrageously fun: a bobbling bassline, coursing synth action and emphatic earworm vocals interlock to supreme effect; Neville Watson's aptly named "Power Dub" does similar damage.

It's the same kind of raw, untrammelled energy that Mr Intl label boss Andy Butler provided in abundance when stripping down to his underwear during a boiling Hercules & Love Affair session this time last summer. In a different set of circumstances, this would have been a nailed-on no.1 smash, but alas.

Get your booty on the floor tonight (or wait for the physical, coming Aug 14th).

Defected are excited to announce Grammy Award winner Todd Edwards’ debut release on the label, with his latest track, ‘You’re Sorry’. Edwards needs little introduction, a legendary stateside musician who inspired the sound of UKG, a pioneering producer and remixer with an impressive discography, and a long-term collaborator of Daft Punk. ‘You’re Sorry’ has the signature Edwards sound, with chopped-up vocal sampling, time and pitch shifts, and kick drums that combine to create a track with true groove. This release captures the spirit of 90s Garage, while sounding fresh as ever for today’s dancefloors, made by a producer deserving of his nickname, Todd ‘The God’ Edwards. Todd then teams up with Jay Robinson, under their Earsling guise, for a Dub that delivers that signature dancefloor garage vibe, with a 4/4 groove guaranteed to get you moving.

Quentin Harris & Margaret Grace - My Joy (Frankie Knuckles Pacha Ibiza 2009)

a/jus/ted is the musical concept of veteran producer Justin Strauss and analog aficionado Teddy Stuart, better known as Eddie Mars. The pairs inaugural release comes in the form of "A brighter light" featuring the incandescent vocals of Jeremy Glenn for London based Under the shade records.

Although a relatively new pairing the due kick off life with a masterful original which moves through its earlier stripped analogue subtleties into an effervescent marauder. The gleaming arp hooks and Glenn's spritely soulful vocal are gradually joined by whacked out acid tinged licks punctuated by a bright billowy bass throughout all the while being lifted from the rousing pads.  All in all achieving a track that sounds at once classic, yet unmistakably modern, file under "end of night".  A real accomplishment for such a new outfit.

Adhering to the current trend for all things Jersey circa 90's is the Lars Vegas (more commonly known as one half of Detroit Swindle) remix. Going straight for the jugular with tight stabs and punchy percussion its manifesto is set out clear to see from the outset.  What makes this different from the run of garage productions currently swamping the scene is its tight pairing with the vocals.  Rather than chopping into a garbled nonsense, Glenn's vocals are allowed free reign and are used in there entirety to provide the extra musicality to move Vegas' remix into a standout weapon.  Make no mistake this will destroy a dancefloor.

Rounding up a/jus/ted show there versatility by remixing themselves, weighing in with a track brimming with ideas. Murky pads align with the tightly sequenced percussion that percolates from the outset. Pushed on by sonorus pads and a relentless deep grueling bass which provides a pivot for the track to advance into a deep, hypnotic ensemble lifted by clips of vocal, this time sounding much more jaded than on the original.  This would certainly be a gem dropped in the most smoke and strobe dens of the world!

If this form can be kept up then a/jus/ted have a very bright future ahead of them.  Grab it now!!
