„You can't say Shuray without saying Walle. As one of Leipzig's DJ teams of the moment, they play by merging into a synergistic unit with four arms, four ears, and two hearts. Their first joint release "International Licence" on Filburt's label O*RS sounds accordingly pleasantly balanced and mature. The two Distillery residents focus on a music genre that has unfortunately and unjustly received less attention lately: Deep House. The three original tracks are universally applicable due to their stripped-down, Detroit-inspired timeless sound. From the most underrated slot of the DJ craft, the warm-up, to the early morning hours: The 909's spellbinding, pumping force will do its job. On the remix duties is highly talented Lea Lisa from the Wolf Music fame. Steppin’ out with their first VA release since the label’s inception in 1995, Worldship Music follows up the release of underground sensation Roberta’s The Brooklyn Ave Sessions with Herald Traccs Vol. 1. The record is a (mostly) LA based affair, starting with Jam’s Theme, a clever flip of a classic from veteran producer and former Underground Resistance member Santiago Salazar. Next up is En Echo, a deep and dubby affair from Echo Park’s Kelvin K, a seminal figure in SF’s early 00’s house scene. Label owners Teflon Dons open the B side with a tough, deep garage cut that would have likely set the UK garage scene on fire. Unfinished since '98, the Dons thankfully revisited this lost classic for some finishing touches. Rounding out the release is the mysterious Westcoast Goddess, whose First Tear emotes a melancholy beauty reminiscent of Hanna’s early work. Heading strong into their 26th year, underground house music is here to stay with Worldship. Look out for volume 2, the hunger continues…

The clouds parted slowly to reveal the hazy blue expanse of sky in the distance beyond - it was what they had all been waiting for as they gathered on the shore. Looking out into the distance as the waves rolled in against the pier it was hard to wonder what might be any better than this. The breeze blew softly and the smell of a grill burnt hot in the distance. Was this paradise? It certainly seemed that way.

He'd never imagined that he might find euphoria here, out here in the middle of nowhere surrounded by strangers whom might one day become friends. It was hard to imagine a life without them now for they too had lived through the cloudy fog to see the sun rise at the beginning of a new morning. They were all in this together.

Wolf Music are back with a new split EP featuring friends and family, this track by Manuel Darquart captures the 'euphoria' of the late ineties Italian house era. These were simpler times, with happy go lucky music and a cocktail on ice to go alongside. This one has us feeling all kinds of summer.

It’s been a long time coming but it’s finally happening… Lavan makes his debut on SlothBoogie with a five track EP of superb House rhythms. The Berlin resident opens the release with ‘Tremendous’, filled with US garage referencing chords and a stellar lead organ solo. Up next is the jacking pump of ‘Gwan Nasty’ with its classy chopped vocals, deep house chords and fierce drums. ‘Nonchalant’ chops in some classic vocal snippets over softer harmonies backed up by Lavan’s rough and ready drum programming and deep sub notes.

Whilst the club setting may feel detached from many of us at this time, Secretsundaze’s forthcoming release, courtesy of the Zeitgeist Freedom Energy Exchange, will transport you back to the depths of the dancefloor’s energy. A three track EP which is sustained by Ziggy Zeitgeist’s rhythmic consistency on the drums – his scintillating live performance at Church of Sound in August 2019 caught the eyes of the label, leading to the fruition of this project.

His sonically ambidextrous ear has culminated in this compelling piece of work. Having met Berlin-based artist Wayne Snow at a record shop in Neukölln, the pair started jamming together at a converted office space in a building that was attached to a techno club. Their afterhours sessions were mixed with spontaneous trips to the club, allowing Wayne’s soulful vocals and Ziggy’s broken drum patterns to seamlessly merge with the darker, more heavy textures of the club environment.

Wayne’s silky offering on Something Special allows the serenading seven-and-a-half-minute meditation to unravel gradually, enchanting the dancer with its harmonious house beat, accompanied alongside interweaving melodic layers, from Finn Rees on keys, that build its trance.
