After the sensation caused by its last release, Life and Death comes back strong with another battle cry into the darkness. With a prized new member of the family, Vaal, joining forces with a Life and Death mainstay, Tale of Us, the stage is set for another epic EP from the forward thinking label.

On the A side Concor grabs the listener with its immediate sense of urgency and a beckoning, slightly exotic melody. As it slowly twists and turns, moving ever more insistently towards its peak it propels the listener to a distant exotic land, as a throbbing beat and cymbals accentuate and elevate the tension. Already a mainstay of the few DJs lucky enough to get their hands on it early, this is sure to be one that will lodge itself deeply into the collective unconscious as we make the long march thru winter and back to summer again.

Over on the B side comes Seahnak, an equally beautiful piece of music that manages to present its intricate melody without ever letting its energy dip. Gothic and yet regal at the same time, as the lead synth shoots out the gate, it takes us on a surprising journey as it pushes the limits of what we might expect from dance music while raising our expectations of it in the process.

After a string of acclaimed releases on Token and a selection of remixes, Ø [Phase] released his debut album 'Frames Of Reference' on Token last fall. Adam Beyer and Ida Engberg deliver something a little different with their next collaboration, ‘You Know’.  Unlike their recent Drumcode release, ‘You Know’ is a deep house killer that will appeal to new and old fans alike. Using a number of melodies within both the bass line and melodic synth that sits at the back of the mix, these two elements harmonise together smoothly and create an ear catching juxtaposition that will get the dance floor rocking before the vocal roars over the track.

Oraculo have been carving out a niche for gothic style techno for the past few years and the Wind Atlas' remixes of 'En La Cruz' carry on the tradition quite nicely.  With a remix from Undo, this is a neat addition to the back catalogue.
Gregorian style vocals open this track along with a kick drum which pounds out the cobwebs. Sickly sweet vocals sit barely comfortably with the Barcelona producer's trademark style. Jittery claps dance along over a menacing bassline which compliments an appregio which screams 3am in a way which very few other tracks at the moment can.
Barcelona based Undo has been making waves over the past 12 months. At 4 minutes 37 seconds it is a track which a DJ would need to quite quickly have the next track lined up, but it won't be long before it has done the damage it is designed to do. With this workout Undo has delivered yet another set of big sounds for a big room, or a small sweatbox, perhaps even the sort of thing you might hear at Robot Heart out in the desert, wherever you hear it.
Just know it is made for you to dance to.

Heimlich Musik’s tenth release is a direct output of Tulioxi developing his new live show: using a broad range of analogue equipment the four original mixes of the The Downside of Being an Asshole EP represent the final result of a constant process of change taking place during many performances played live. 
 While the title track mirrors the somber mood of its name, maestro Curses is picking up the The Downside of Being an Asshole in his very unique style and pushes this special kind of mood to the max. To End up in Dark Mali is a modern version of Dark Wave with a recognizable lead synth shaping the tracks’ character. Collaborating between Berlin and Vienna, Local Suicide and Circle Scope strip down the original while adding acid sequences to create a massive dancefloor banger. Tulioxi tells The Story of Three Sequencers using disharmonic synths added to pulsating basslines and drum patterns dominated by powerful claps. The additional remix by Undo makes the bassline the center of attention while adding spheric arpeggios for a spacey experience.  Tremal NAik Dance is rounding up the EP as a whole with floating pads and dominant arpeggios as a perfect soundtrack for a night drive in the 80s.
