Originally released on Plumb Music in 1997, Body Talkin' (originally called 'Feel Your Body Talking') is back on DJ Sneak Classics with a fresh set of remixes from DJ Mes, Arturo Garces, Bluntz & Roachez and DJ Sneak himself on his 'House Gangster Remix'.

The original version, also included, shows just why Sneak was the premier name in the filtered disco sound in the late 90's, influencing the likes of Daft Punk and Armand Van Helden.  Relentless jacking beats underpin a full, heavily layered groove that rises and falls around a female vocal hook.  Sneak's new 'House Gangster' remix strips back the filtered sounds but keeps the jacking beats for a heads down floor beater.

Guesthouse Music's DJ Mes stays closer to the original, bumps the beat, teases in the groove and works the vocal into a frenzy.  Arturo Garces from Jump Up Recordings goes down a darker and deeper path with a throbbing subterranean baseline and recent Magnetic Recordings signings Bluntz & Roachez take things in a more sparse direction with tribal percussion, while pitching down the vocal and adding carefully crafted synth stabs.

Derek Kaye married his schoolboy passions of music and electronics in 1973 when he constructed his first disco sound system, aged just 13. Prior to this, with DJ equipment something of a rarity in those days, he created a custom setup that bypassed the need for a mixer by rewiring his turntables in such a way that he could flip the sound from one deck to another, and installed a switch that would dip the music so a microphone from a portable cassette player could be used to announce the song on rotation. His work soon grew in sophistication and a new console was built, with his schoolmate, Greg Wilson, buying Derek’s old rig, thus beginning his own well-documented DJ career.

Over the past 40 years, Derek has continued to DJ in and around the North West, both in residencies and guest spots, and his passion for music and electronics are still just as strong. His enviable studio has gone through the transitions of working with notator (the forerunner to logic) on the studio essential Atari 1040 ste with a collection of keyboards and Akai samplers, to just about “working out of the box” as is the case with a lot of studios now.

Today, a lifetime of experience is being teased out of the connoisseur by lifelong friend and A&R curator Greg Wilson, beginning with the double header of 'Nobody' and 'Music Up': both reworks have caused dance floor rapture for Greg over recent months and, as festival season fast approaches, they are now being shared amongst the wider DJ community for the very first time (Derek and Greg have also recently joined forces to remix Bryan Ferry’s ‘Don’t Stop The Dance’).

'Music Up' is an overhaul of the 1979 Vanguard 12” by the Players Association, Kaye's version injecting further verve into the original with a new bassline, percussion, strings and arrangement. Personally requested by NYC stalwart Danny Krivit when Greg Wilson dropped it during his recent gig at The Date in London, 'Music Up' is a surefire festival favourite, for house and disco heads alike, that’s set to fly this summer.

 This compilation is John Morales’ third for BBE. Few can match his contributions to the world of Dance Music be it soul, funk, disco, to today’s house music.

John Morales is considered one of the true legends of the mix. And his work some thirty years later continues to be cutting edge and inspiring. His epic mix of Universal Robot Bands boogie anthem “Barely Breakin Even”  is the source from which BBE Records got its name.

No attempt has ever been made to summarise the pinnacle of Johns work. This third release on BBE continues that history lesson that John has forged in dance music. He formed The M+M Mix with his late partner Sergio Munzibai, in 1982 till 1990 whose output of over 650 mixes will be unmatched today. John continues The M+M legacy.

From the Rolling Stones to Gloria Estefan, The Temptations, Barry White, Marvin Gaye, James Brown, Hall & Oates, Teena Marie, Aretha Franklin to BBE – we have all been molded by Johns everlasting mix influence, love for his work and his Music..  This superb triple CD presents some of John's finest works, and takes the M+M Mix legacy to yet a higher level. CD1 & 2 feature some of the greatest tracks of all time from the Start of CD 1 and Barry White’s “Never, Never Gonna Give You Up” , to the classic rework of Marvin Gaye’s “I Want You”  which closes out CD2, there are no sleepers here. CD3 also features some of the best from the vaults of the Salsoul and West End labels, anthems like Loleatta Holloway’s – “Hit & Run” to legendary Paradise Garage favorite Loose Joints “Is It All Over My Face?”. 

 This is the legacy of the M+M mixes.

Strip Steve - This track was actually started 2 years ago when I was on tour going through NYC. Jr and I were in touch about working on some music and one day before he pick me up at the New Jersey station close to his studio I went record shopping, met Kenny Dope by chance and found a Black Male record lost in the cheap $ crates. I was so happy because I was a huge Romanthony fan but didn't actually know that specific record (a lot of Black Male recordings are hard to come by, even on YouTube).

I showed it to Jr and he was surprised that someone from my generation would be so excited to find this kind of stuff. Later in the studio we decided to make a "cross generation" track influenced by the style of Roman's typical preacher house records. We both had a lot of stuff going on and a busy few months ahead but after Roman's death we got back in touch again and decided we should finish it as a tribute to him... 4

Junior Sanchez - This was a track that we started almost 2 years ago at my studio in NJ, with every intention of finishing it.. But our schedule got the best of us, and it sat for a while. Theo and I kept in touch and constantly talk and share music. When the unfortunate sudden death of Romathony came to light i was in the middle of a gig and was completely heartbroken. Coming back to my studio i listened to some old Romanthony records and I remembered the track that I’d been working on with Theo. I brought up the session, tweaked some things, spoke to him via ichat. and asked about us doing this in Roman's memory. He was super down.. I sent Theo all the stems Via Dropbox, he mixed it in his studio added some finishing touches and here we are! 4 ROMAN!! Respect Jr.
