As Anton MAKe continued his assault on the underground dance scene, "Bulletproof" marked a new chapter in the Russian artist's arsenal. After a successful first volume in July 2020 in which five original tracks shone a light on Anton's skill and creativity, "Bulletproof, Vol. 2" continues the series with a trio of original tracks and a pair of high-class remixes.

Opening with the heavy rhythmic overtones of "LucyLidia", a grooved bassline quickly takes hold while percussive effects pan the stereo spectrum. A heavily modulated synth lead makes its presence felt while delicate motifs swirl hypnotically as the track evolves, reaching its melodic zenith at the breakdown before dropping back into the dense rhythmic forest in the second half. "Rotas" continues the strong percussive narrative, paired with a heavy beat. A glorious array of sumptuous pads and ‘rise and fall' arpeggio soon picks up the pace, reaching an octave pitched crescendo at the mid-point. Pausing for breath, all melodic elements then combine once more with the rhythmic backdrop to mesmerising effect in the second half. The third original track sees "Sator" make a powerful statement with a heavy, white noise infused bass pattern before complementary pads and symphonic strings filter into sonic range. Gloriously evocative, a glittering array of melodies wax and wane in gated and glissando fashion to continue a powerful and mature production narrative running through Anton's work.

Christian Wedekind needs little in the way of introduction. To the underground music fraternity, the German artist's D-Nox moniker has been a byword for quality for almost two decades, both in solo guise and with Brazilian star, Beckers. After an impressive Proton Music debut, remixing Juan Deminicis' "Life on the Moon" with ZAC, D-Nox now returns with a solo reworking of "Denouement" that bristles with dynamic verve and rhythmic prowess. Driving forward with a powerful running bassline, syncopated plucks and clever percussive integration pave the way for the central arpeggio in Anton MAKe's original to make its presence felt with a flowing ease. Delicious strings gently pulsate against the heavy beat before a new bassline makes its play at the breakdown before rhythm and melody join forces in the second half.

Sebastian Sellares has caused quite a stir on Proton Music since a debut remix of Hot TuneiK's "Circles of You" in June 2019. October 2020 then saw Sellares make his full EP debut for the label via his "Jinsei / Zen State" offering. Twin tracks of the highest quality led the way, complemented by a pair of remixes from heavyweights, Nick Muir and Matias Chilano. Now returning for the first time in 2021, the Sebastian Sellares interpretation of "Denouement" retains the original's intensity as a swathe of new production material echoes Vangelis, adding layers of undulating synths. Building with effervescent ease, traces of Anton MAKe's track are felt while the second half hits new heights through a combination of rhythmic and melodic interplay, rising in hypnotic intensity to reach an impressive conclusion.

A quintet of new productions find Anton MAKe, D-Nox and Sebastian Sellares squarely hitting the target in "Bulletproof, Vol. 2".

Anton MAKe - LucyLidia (Original Mix)

The latest release from Tash's Movement Recordings welcomes Lessovsky to the label for his debut EP 'Mueve'. Hailing from the Ukraine, Oleg Lisovskiy aka Lessovsky has been a fixture of the electronic music underground for the better part of a decade. With a sound that sits in the creative space between progressive house and melodic house and techno, the Kharkov resident has found a home on several cutting-edge record labels, most notably EIN2, Lost Diaries and Seven Villas. With the focus primarily on his organic house alias Somalee in recent years, Oleg now returns to his beloved Lessovsky project for his Movement Recordings debut alongside remixes from Da Fresh and Futur-E.

With three originals to choose from it is the title selection which leads the release off. Dark and mysterious from the outset it's punchy low end and rolling rhythms provide momentous drive, while striking effects and cross-cultural motifs fill in the framework. Exotic percussion and distinctive stabs delight across the first act, bringing a lively feel to the journey, before the second of two breaks resets the framework for a groovy finale. Its contemporary flair leads perfectly into the more esoteric 'Toujours'. Nasally acids lines and arcane vocal processing are beautifully complemented with kaleidoscopic arps and sweeping chords, the latter of which gives way to further quirkiness across a spirited final movement. Aptly titled, 'Guitarmore' rounds out the three originals with a machine gun style groove, a maze of finely tuned percussion. Bleepy tonal themes, evolving vocal edits and a buzzing guitar keep the narrative incredibly fresh, with the end result being one of Lessovsky's most heady creations to date.

Making his label debut and providing the lone interpretation of 'Mueve' is Da Fresh. As a producer and DJ for over two decades the French artist has compiled an impressive resume. Releases for 1605, Suara and Toolroom sit prominently in his discography, while more recent outings for Area Verde, Freegrant Music and Perspectives Digital have continued his evolution within the world of melodic house and techno. Now making a welcome debut on Movement Recordings, the Lyon resident dials in a deadly remix of 'Mueve'. Setting the piece in motion, a foundation of driving beats and percussive waves converge for a wall of momentous energy. Electric rhythms complement the rolling foundation, while quirky effects and gated vocals work their magic across the stereo field. The main break furthers the storyboard with full vocal phrases adding a transcendent vibe, perfectly setting up an astral synth display across a cosmic finale.

Rounding out the release and providing the lone interpretation of 'Toujuors' is Futur-E who returns to the label for his third appearance. As the Movement Recordings label manager, the Greek artist first appeared on the imprint in March of 2020 with a contribution to the 'Technical Progress, Vol.10' collection. February of this year then saw the Eleusis resident return with his first EP entitled 'Angel'. Backed by remixes from Mononoid and Jonathan Reyes, the five-track offering earned play and support from electronic music's premiere tastemakers, as well as enjoying a run in Beatport's sales charts. Also calling Mango Alley and MNL home, Futur-E now returns to Movement with a powerful rendition of 'Toujours'. Fluid and groovy in equal measure, it's a mix that carries the sensibility of the original, while adding a spacier vibe through timely effects and a fragmented, reprocessed take on the vocal elements. Building beautifully into the break, effervescent acid lines eventually give way to a tasteful tonal theme which spearheads a liquid-like finale. A classy rendition from Futur-E, which rounds out a stunning Movement Recordings debut for Lessovsky. Don't miss it.

Clubsonica Records opens the summer season by welcoming Etherwave back to the label for a new EP. On the strength of 2019 releases via RunAfter Records and Extravaganza, the UK artist made his Clubsonica debut in June of last year with the 'Pathfinder' EP. Now making a welcome return to label, the UK artist presents his 'Genesis | Leonids' double a-side EP, alongside remixes from Parallel Universe, Subandrio and Armandhe.

With a return to his progressive house roots it is 'Genesis' which leads the release off. Warm beats, rolling bass tones and striking percussion set the piece in motion, as dreamy atmospheres and wispy effects slowly encase the framework. Wavy arps then further the narrative, adding moments of meditative momentum with the main break approaching. As the interlude unfolds, tasteful modulation sparks tension, with percussive layers and a wave of noise rising towards a sizzling apex and key changing finale. The companion piece 'Leonids' proves to be a perfect complement with its deep, rolling groove and timeless electronics. Luminous arps delight amidst a maze of driving percussion and pitch bending tones, perfectly transferring energy into the main break. Cosmic and grandiose in equal measure, the interlude saturates your senses with layers of kaleidoscopic motifs, running through timely filters, before reaching an astral crescendo and groovy final movement.

Providing the lone interpretation of 'Genesis' is Parallel Universe. Hailing from Colombia, Ethereal Mist and Mauro Pierotti make up the Parallel Universe production duo. Continued support from progressive music tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren have propelled the duo into one of their country's premiere acts. Also laying claim to releases via Antrim's Or Two Strangers, Parallel Universe now returns to Clubsonica with a sensational remix of 'Genesis'. Engaging from the outset, punchy kicks and rhythmic pulses converge for a fluid foundation, while hazy harmonics and luminous arps bring character and texture to the groove. Building an emotive narrative across the first act, poignant chord changes provide an energy bridge into the main break, where billowing bass swells rise amidst a wave of colourful effects, before a rush of white noise sparks a commanding drop and massive finale.

Continuing the cast of excellent remixers is Subandrio. As one of his country's most highly regarded progressive music talents, the Sri Lankan artist has long been a favourite of genre tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren. Now making his long overdue Clubsonica debut, the Colombo resident delivers a huge interpretation of 'Leonids'. Atop compact beats comes a wall of shape shifting bass and effervescent phrasing. Mysterious and driving throughout, it's a heady amalgamation of sound which makes for an energetic yet atmospheric journey, elegantly melting down to pitch bending arps across a one-minute interlude, before a mystical final act puts a cap on this creative gem.

The release concludes with Armandhe providing the second and final interpretation of 'Leonids'. Now following a remix for Nature Rec to begin the year, Armandhe returns to Clubsonica with a groovy interpretation of 'Leonids'. Taking a cue from the original, while adding a deeper, dubbier state of mind, the Colombian artist carves out a chunky groove adorned with neatly manicured percussion and bright tonal themes. Wavy arps provide a unique emotional response across the first act, as placid pads create a bridge into the main break. Compelling and poignant, the centrepiece is an enlightening experience, with its cinematic air, symphonic overtones and sleek build ending in a stripped drop and quirky final movement. A gorgeous remix from Armandhe which rounds out a welcome return to Clubsonica for Etherwave. Don't miss it.
