Long time DJ and part of the Lost Soul Enterprises crew and The Long Count Cycle, Zack Kerns (aka @Scallywag) is a local staple in New York and has played as far and wide as Japan and South America. He’s a regular at the city's top clubs, parties, and festivals having graced the decks of The Bunker @thebunkerny, Unter, and Sustain Release @sustain-release-nyc. He throws parties like his infamous Fourth World every July and has booked and played along side the likes of Helena Hauff, Veronica Vasicka, Legowelt, Traxx, and countless others. He’s a dope selector that doesn’t get enough attention. And here he is throwing it down for us for over an hour of dark House to Cosmic Techno, from Ambient vibes to Electro, to Acid, to DnB, to Glitchy stuff. Sound messy? DJ Hockey approaches techno by intermingling layers of contrasting elements. Defining characteristics for his selections are thick, encompassing atmospheres and moods on the introspective side. These sounds are often paired with nods to the Midwest wrapped in a single session, crafting a journey through spacious and full beats. A consistent overarching theme of DJ Hockey’s style in selecting and producing is having a driving pace and heavy hit of psychedelia. 

When asked about this mix, "The mix I have prepared for Research and Development explored a familiar but expanded avenue of my typical sound. It journeys through a less driving pace of off-kilter house/techno-house territory and drifts into spacey, yet bounce-y techno all with a Midwestern flare."
