-How long have you been creating music?
I've been creating music for 8 years, but my motivation to DJ started when I was younger, watching my dad perform on his turntables since I was 10 years old.

-What do you use to make your tracks?
I typically use Ableton along with some analog gear. This was the first time ever creating a track with ROMiii.  We incorporated his Eurorack rig for this project — Intellijel Metropolix for sequencing, using an Intellijel Atlantis for the bass line, and an Instruo CS-L for the detuned lead. Additionally, we employed the Moog One (not Eurorack) for various patches, ranging from harmonies to percussive 16th note fills. CV Tools in Live made it incredibly convenient to achieve signal routing and synchronize with the modular setup. To facilitate the I/O connection with the Eurorack rig, we utilized the Expert Sleepers ES-9 as our audio interface.



-How and when did you first discover Dirtybird?

I first discovered Dirtybird in 2016 when I had the opportunity to witness a few stages and catch performances by Dirtybird DJs at Tomorrowland Belgium. It was there that I met some amazing people from Chicago who quickly became good friends. They introduced me to my first Campout in 2017, and since then, I have been completely hooked and continuously evolving my unique sound.

-Which Dirtybird artist would you want to collaborate with the most? 
Surprisingly, both ROMiii and I are in agreement here: Wyatt Marshall or Lubelski, both of whom have incredible minimal sounds. I find that not only are they exceptional producers, but their music truly resonates with me.

-If your entire life was a movie, what title would best describe you? 
If my life were a movie, it would be titled 'The Ups and Downs.' I strongly relate to the metaphor of a rollercoaster, as my journey has been filled with constant challenges and setbacks. Despite experiencing various hardships along the way, I have consistently pushed myself forward. This resilience is especially true in the life of a producer/DJ, where we often encounter both successful and challenging months.

-What’s the best concert you’ve ever been to?
The best concert I've ever attended would have to be The Cure at Shoreline Amphitheater. Robert Smith's vocals were simply incredible, and the entire band delivered an outstanding performance. Their dark 80s synth sound, which I absolutely love, was executed flawlessly. It was truly a memorable experience to witness The Cure crushing it on stage.

-If you could time travel, where and when would you go?
I would travel to the 50s in New York and hang out in jazz clubs where Myles Davis and John Coltrane would play. Seemed like a ground breaking time for music. It would be nice to witness it happen in person. 

-What species of bird best describes you and why? 
A great blue heron is the most similar to me. Just like the bird's tall and lanky stature, i also have similar physical qualities. Also, my patient and dedicated approach to my music, where i am willing to spend hours finding the right sounds until they are perfect, aligns with the bird's behavior as it waits patiently for the right moment to catch its prey. The blue heron's characteristics beautifully mirrors my own in terms of physical resemblance and the way i exhibit my creative process.

HRVST returns to the label with his first standalone release, going deep and dark with menacing new roller. It's slick & seething tech house thumper, with 80s-evoking synths & a deep moody bassline that warps and evolves as the track progresses. One the remix, fellow Texan & welcome addition to the label Buck Rodgers preserves the dark tone of the original, adding swung hats and a chopped synth line to add even more gritty texture. Both tunes are ready to take the dancefloor on a journey this summer & beyond!

Tim Light is back, this time with the 4-track. 'Fractured EP' – capturing a moment of change, documenting his journey as an artist and producer.
