I'm happy to present the sequel to Perpetual Dream, the aptly titled, PERPETUAL DREAM II. Perpetual Dream II picks up where the first EP left off, with more new tracks informed by trance favorites of yesteryear.

Shades of Robert Miles and Kamaya Painters are present, though presented through the unique lens of Unlimited Oceans and the sonic palette utilized for the Perpetual Dream series of EP's. Droning synth pads, hypnotic piano riffs, and dance beats carry the EP to fruition — much like its predecessor.

Perpetual Dream II seeks to dive even deeper into the dream, further into the infinite space that bridges the gap between chillout and dance music. Here we are, between the ethereal abyss and the driving optimism of forever. Somewhere between the agony and the ecstasy, where the fantasy becomes real. In longing for a dream in perpetuity, we see the indefinite, but surely all things must come to an end?

Unlimited Oceans - Somnium

I started Unlimited Oceans as a side project/alter ego to explore the more electronic and dance inspired side of my musical interests. In 2020 and 2021, I predominately used the UO name to make DnB and Trance inspired music. After that, I turned my focus back to Faint Waves for quite some time.

Now, three years later, Unlimited Oceans returns with True Faith; the most uplifting, club inspired UO release yet. Rooted closely in 90’s and early 00's dance, rave, eurobeat, etc. I definitely wanted to capture that spirit, while still grounding it in the sort of hi-fi dream space that UO occupies. That’s kind of where the title comes from, in addition to being named after the New Order song, I think it alludes to the “religious experience” side of this type of music; the emotional, euphoric, otherworldly, transcendental nature of it.

A2K is happy to present the musical debut of Cut N' Dry with Oh No! Anyway. A short and sweet microcosm of 90's sampledelia, cut-up bliss. This single features the breakbeat and hip-hop tinged "Oh No! Anyway" and the funked up guitar boogie "The Bop-A-Doo". The single is a loop and sample based sound collage that doesn't particularly concern itself with innovation or modern conveniences, CnD just wanted to tug on influential strings like Steinski, Fatboy Slim, and Coldcut. Above all, apparently he had fun making these novel little tunes, what a concept!

Unlimited Oceans makes its A2K debut with a ceremonious return to DnB. On his first outing in the genre in 5 years, UO indulges in a melange of DnB, Jungle, and Breakcore. The result is a two song joint that hinges as much on abyssal atmosphere as it does dense percussion.

The titular track, "Concrete Jungle", is a succinct mood piece. While "Endless Highway" is a bit more lush and drawn out in its composition.

Dedicated to James Calvin Wilsey, the king of slow. If he were still with us, I would've asked him to play on this record himself. If he had, it would have been the greatest of honors. JCW was an underrated performer who moved millions with his guitar talents, only to receive very little recognition for it. He may be gone but he is not forgotten.

A talented guitar player and performer named Randy Clark is featured on this track and he does a beautiful job paying homage to JCW, while still being true to himself as a player. I hope James would’ve enjoyed this track by myself and Randy Clark.

A Florida based musician and self-proclaimed proprietor of all things chill, Justin Weems started the Faint Waves project in 2013 and after a couple years of musical trial and error, found his sound. Taking a worldbeat-inspired approach to electronic music that could largely be described as chillout or easy listening, Faint Waves found an audience in the balearic realm. It's easy to see why, as Faint Waves' passionate use of downtempo beats, new age synths, and diverse instrumentation is right in line with the eclectic melting pot that is balearic beat. Tags like chillout, downtempo, exotica, and new age all apply, as Faint Waves explores worldly and tropical themes across lush beds of sound. With all this said, Faint Waves' music is simply best described as mellow mood music, regardless of the genres he's working in. Fit for sunrises and sunsets, Faint Waves' otherworldly and emotive instrumentals are sure to provide a unique listening experience every time. In addition to releasing his unique music independently, he's worked with labels such as Eclectics, Higher Love Recordings, Real Balearic, Café del Mar, and now NuNorthern Soul.

With 3 original tracks by Faint Waves, Islands In Time is a soft focus audio odyssey, with a wide range of diverse influences. From the soulful piano licks of "Aphrodesia" to the Seahawks-like ambience of "Eternal Seas", there's an ebb and flow between jazzy melodics and dream pop tonality. That's not to say it isn't a consistent release though, as each track moves like water into the next, propelled by washes of synthesizers and ocean waves. Clearly informed by 90's chillout and 80's adult contemporary, Islands In Time is perhaps best characterized by its melodic piano passages, deep drums, and aquatic synth pads. All of this makes for an introspective, languid musical exploration. The journey is a downtempo trip across distant seas and to empty, remote beaches of white sand and palm trees. Lush and organic in sound with ambient effects, the listener will be transported to a wistful far-off location, as the sounds drift through their mind.

Both Plastic Fantastic and NuNorthern Soul label boss take the Aphrodesia track and add their deft touches to create more audio adventures and sonic sojourns. Plastic Fantastic extend the original track to a wondrous 11+ minutes, creating pure sunset magic, while Phil takes a more dubby approach and adds an extra live bassline to take it on a different tangent. A drum-less dub is also available for those extended post Sunset moments of calm and clarity.

I'm happy to present the latest Unlimited Oceans project, Perpetual Dream, a brief EP informed by some trance favorites of yesteryear.

After the eclectic escapism of Blue Impact, I wanted to do something with Unlimited Oceans that was a bit more consistent, while also leaning a bit more techno. Despite being a fan, I've never produced any trance related music myself, so I decided that might be a nice place to start.

Perpetual Dream, like its title might suggest, is atmospheric music that always has a degree of energy — in constant motion. Sometimes the destination is toward a climax, other times it's to nowhere in particular, simply moving ad infinitum. Perpetual Dream is equal parts uplifting and ethereal, at once both dancefloor and chillout material.
