Gregorian chant, in its all-embracing spirituality and poetry, appeals to the deeper levels of the human heart. Monks in the Middle Ages composed and performed this music as an integrated part of their daily occupation with Sacred Scripture. Throughout the centuries Gregorian chant has enriched and deepened the liturgy of the church, and has been a source of inspiration in every period of European music history. Under the leadership of Alexander M. Schweitzer, Consortium Vocale presents chants from the five Sundays of Lent, Palm Sunday and Good Friday, recorded in the medieval church at Ringsaker in Norway.

Following directly after Steve Bicknell’s powerful and driving techno, my responsibility was to transition the party into a period of rest and recovery. Playing to an open-minded crowd in a beautiful setting allowed me to explore different moods and deliver a set that conveyed what I wanted it to. No need for introduction when it comes to https://soundcloud.com/naturalelectronicsystem Originally from Naples, the duo has been playing in the most reputed festivals and clubs worldwide from Labyrinth to Paral-lel Festival, providing always acclaimed productions with a big respect of a large fan base.  On this fourth instalment of my residency, I’m hosting half of the duo, friend Valerio Gomez de Ayala for a journey into some of his favorite ambient records, he doesn’t use to play in clubs. I’m on the first hour, Valerio the second.

Back at the end of the ’90s, Valerio started to collect techno, IDM, ambient, experimental, house and electronic music records from all over the world. In the early ’00, he had the opportunity to work in a local club in the Vesuvian area where he had to play very Mainstream music, but training also himself in the meantime hours before the party or when the club was closed by recording tapes with music he liked. Following this very first experience, he finally had the opportunity to buy his own turntables and improved his technic. 
Then, in 2004 , he started with his high school friend and musical soulmate, Antonio Giova , the natural/electronic.system. project in order to express their personal idea of sound. 

Next for duo, Mediterranea EP on Tikita which will hit the stores this month. They are also preparing an upcoming EP on Delsin, one of their all time favorite labels and are working on lot of music right now.

While some artists work towards advancing their egos, others function more as a backbone, supporting music culture and giving it a foundation to grow. Our next guest, Sabine Hoffman, is most certainly the latter mentioned. With an infectious passion for vinyl and an immense musical knowledge that encompasses all subsections, she has been enchanting listeners and building support systems in her hometown of Berlin for years. Her event series "Frauengedeck" spotlights the female and non-cis talent around her and provides a platform to lesser-known artists. Whether you see her in her element in many of the renowned clubs in Berlin or working behind the counter of OYE record store in Neukölln, Sabine is sure to greet you with a smile and some seriously good records. The concept I had in mind for this mix was loose at the beginning. I wanted to create something that was happy, uplifting and melodic, as opposed to anything dark during these already dark times (and it’s very easy for me to go that way) I ended up turning to a lot of 90’s (and new but 90’s influenced) music, a couple of classics and reissues, and found myself dreaming of new worlds - that era of music had the most amazing power to transport you for some reason. 

The mix starts off with Ambient, but quickly moves into more dub, uptempo, breaks, beats and full-on Trance... Those of you who know me well, know I love Trance music and surprisingly this is the first time I’ve managed to sneak it into an ASIP mix.

I saw this mix as a route to escapism, a look out of the window, and a journey that just goes up and up.
