This month’s Carhartt WIP Radio show features @donato-dozzy, one of the country’s most profound electronic music producers and DJs, internationally renowned for the hypnotic and manifold ways in which he can create deep, absorbing techno trips.

Dozzy first honed his skills at the mythical squat-slash-club Brancaleone in Rome, before moving to Berlin in the mid-aughts, where he elevated his signature style even further with his “Dozzy’s Night” residency at Panorama Bar. Since then, he has gone on to grace line-ups alongside esteemed peers, such as Marcel Dettmann, Jeff Mills, Surgeon, and his compatriot Marco Shuttle.

As a producer, Dozzy first began to make waves in 2004, and has since gone on to release a string of EPs and albums on labels such as Spectrum Spools, Tresor, or The Bunker New York. In addition, he also runs three record labels. Dozzy Records, launched 2006, @spaziodisponibile, established in 2016 together with DJ and producer Giuseppe Tillieci aka @neel, and his latest label @magacircemusica, together with the Spanish graphic artist and DJ @aliciacarrera. 

For Carhartt WIP Radio, Dozzy conducted a mix that gently immerses the listener into his rich body of work playing classics like “Gol” and remixes he has done for other artists, like the legendary experimental electronic group Cabaret Du Ciel. Metallic drones oscillate between micro-tones, seeping down into the depths of our conscious minds. Our next guest, Bryan Kasenic, is no stranger to such sonic imagery. Anyone who has dived into the murky world of underground electronic music has undoubtedly come across The Bunker New York, which has established itself as much more than a party thanks to Kasenic's dedicated hard work. Through years of careful curation, renowned events, records, and podcasts, The Bunker has evolved into a community founded on connection through otherworldly music. 

With the launch of the sublabel Going In in 2020, Kasenic decided to promote the realms of long-form music compositions suited for more meditative moments. With 14 releases to date, he has transformed his devotion to alternative musical forms into reality. His Unrush contribution is a palpable display of this passion, turning his prowess as an experienced selector into a ruminative passage of sound that transcends time and space. So tune in, drop out, and let your thoughts dissolve into the ether.

#114 brings the talented Italian duo, Primal Code (@primalcodemusic), to the animix series, an act who have become known for their distinctively soulful & hypnotic interpretation of atmospheric techno.

Their recent release on @kalaharioystercult was one of my favourites of last year, a unique & modern fuse of dub techno, acid & modular sounds, resulting in a magically squelchy, deep, subterranean body of work. Before that, releases on the prolific @hypnus & @konstrukt cemented their style. This mix is a lovely continuation of that.

"The sun begins to set. That autumn light sketches itself behind an idyllic landscape. Mountains rocks where there is snow in winter. A unique balcony. Surrounded by lush black pine and damp green grass, that unmistakable smell of nature. And in the background the beat, that beat that the context has transformed into something organic. And you, there in paradise on Earth."

Influenced by ambient electronics and chromaticism, Guillam (@guillam) pursues depth through the exploration of sound and composition. Soothing soundscapes, unfolding rhythms and organic textures are elements present in his music and dj sets. He is one of the curators on board along with Refracted (@refracted-music) in Paral·lel festival (@parallelfestival).  This is a live recording DJset during the Midline night curated by ABSIS (@absismusic) in Laut (@laut_barcelona) on February 9th.
