Sound is basically physics, but it could also be biology. During the whole stomaching process, our body is the host of an astonishing living concerto and becomes a true rehearsal studio for our organic musicians. Borborygmus, deglution sounds, hydrochloric acid disintegrating food are some of the natural activities that produce the most interesting soundwaves we can witness as a one man crowd. That's exactly what Vina Konda tried to explore in his third solo EP "Osseus Labyrinth".

After many years of research, the Palin Gen laboratories scientist presents a staggering sonic exploration into the human digestive system that aims to musically reproduce what he theorized as a "galastrointestinal journey" where "gastric" and "galactic" merge into the same word. This nano-molecular adventure through our inner cosmos finds its way in an experimental bass music and techno interpretation where powerful rythmics are surrounded by swarming biological organisms and magnified by a breathtaking internal body reverb.

The first track named " (-C-O-(O)P(O)-O-C-) " is a 120bpm futuristic electro trip picturing a tracheal fall, signing the begining of our anatomic expedition. "Melting E. Coli" is opening by a sword sound followed by a warrior cry, recalling here a fictive battlefield where bacteria are colonizing gastrointestinal walls at the rhythm of a 150 bpm banger. "SNC Modulation" is a scientific term about the exchange of informations between brain and guts which takes the form of a technoid experimentation divided into two parts which are symbolizing the neural information moving forward and then backward. Our travel through the ventral meanders ends with the beautiful " >0> ", a smooth and nice "bellyaric" ballad picturing the body exit of our vehicle. Vina Konda's science knowledge and creative narration make "Osseus Labyrinth" a pure Sci-Fi piece of art in which the musical medium was prefered toexpress his ideas rather than words or images.

Bristol-based producer QGB returns their second album ‘A RECKONING’ out on the 8th April via their PRESENT TENSE imprint. The album was recorded over a three year period, with another year to get it together to release it. 

As mentioned to Accidental Meetings recently, GQB said of the album, “it’s aggy and a bit broken but I hope there’s also grooves and danceable sections in there and it’s not all heady self indulgent nonsense. I guess each track was its own little process but a lot of what inspired me at the time was working with more generative techniques, basic chance/randomness not wanting it to be academic and dry but making it feel a bit alive and unpredictable.”

This is their first release on the label since 2018’s release of ‘Hornet’ - a record which was supported by the likes of Truants, Call Super, and Resident Advisor to name a few. Slowly becoming a go-to producer for your favourite DJs, we’re super excited to share one of, ‘PIGS’ from the album - one of the most in-your-face, all encompassing tracks on there.

Next entry on TEMET comes courtesy of Victor Praud alias Second., a producer raised in Rezé (very close to our basecamp Nantes) who's previously made a name for himself through Society of Silence, the duo he co-operates alongside fellow French musician Tite.

Second’s debut for TEMET is ideal for both unbothered raving and mental unshackling from reality’s murky thrall.  Coined by Praud himself, the title for the EP - “Rasuba” - is a neologism without meaning that precisely stands for what can not be put into words.

For EYX010 London-based Italian producer Ikävä Pii returns on the label (following their first appearance with ‘EPOS Digitale’ from September 2021) with a new mind-melter EP titled ‘Process
Fatigue’, their first release of 2022.

Written “literally” while keeping “Discord and Ableton open at all times” and funnelling “ideas from one channel to the other”, ‘Process Fatigue’ contains four quirky club ready cuts reflecting the
intent of the artist in developing new creative processes.

A downshifting sound signals the beginning of Protocol Art, the opening track introducing the listener to the new broad palette of sound from the Italian produce. This dance tool plays around
the alternation of rhythm and melody, while enveloped synthesisers and warped samples convolute into kaleidoscopic musical textures until the last bell hits and dissolves into silence.

Fast paced hit-hats, a syncopated rhythmic session and analog harmonies and effects follow next in Group Chats with High Signal-to-Noise Ratio Become Coops, delivering an unconventional DJ
tool with an incredible attention to sound designs.

Reaching towards the core of Ikävä Pii’s latest work there is title track Process Fatigue, which brings the listener into dark dubstep and obscure dance influenced territories driven by leading sub basses, an incessant kick and a glitchy percussions.

The closing cut is Relevant Channel which kicks off with atmospherical pads, a combination of wild gamelan percussions, tweaked synthesisers and time stretching effects succeeded
imminently diverting the track into a flamboyant rhythmic dance.

“How do we decide how to decide? Process Fatigue is an involuntary reflection of the shared
Sisyphean nature of grassroots organising and artistic creation.
It was composed while researching a method and developing a set of tools for both SODAA (the
London collective working on a model for a community-operated club) and a new personal
creative cycle; Discord and Ableton open at all times, ideas crossing from one channel to another -
while also adjusting to chronic tiredness.
New protocols spawn new art and ways of sharing it - but avoid fetishising the process, or you’ll
get stuck. Just make the tune! Do the party! Mess up! Have fun!”

Ikävä Pii - Relevant Channel

Bringing us to our twentieth release we have an NHS newcomer with their first ever EP, named Yotah, Offering up four tracks that teeter on the fringes of chunky maximalism and intricate, evolving modulation. ‘Rewiring’ is an exploration of hybridized and amorphous sonics into recognizable patterns, only to break through this consolidation (so evidently true to our nature) to peer into the unknown that lurks on the other side.

Such a notion is further established through the creative process that Yves pursued to develop his first body of work; learning and unlearning various styles of music to be left with a semblance of what was. His sound, not yet fully established as he humbly states, is always a vestige of the past, whispers of a previous set of patterns he has reinterpreted and rewired in his own mind.
