Sylvere keeps the party going in this high energy mix filled with cheeky dubs and hip-shaking rhythms.

Hailing from Paris, Sylvere is informed by his heritage as the bass-heavy traditions of Caribbean Soundsystem culture dominate his output. With releases on Trax Couture, Tobago Tracks and Sans Absence, Sylvere made his debut on Modeselektor's Monkeytown Records earlier this year with EP1. Over the course of five tracks, Sylvere keeps the dancefloor in mind from the relaxed grooves on 'Because' to the heavy industrial-strength anthem 'Carnival' - the EP has it all covered, drawing from dancehall and UK funky influences. And this is just the beginning of his collaboration with Monkeytown Records, teasing another release on its way.

"To end the year well, and as more and more clubs in Europe are closing their doors because of the pandemic, I wanted to deliver a mix full of energy, to make you dance or at least shake your head wildly," Sylvere says about the mix.

Reylinn (they/she) is a DJ, visual artist, radio host and promoter from the Portland metro area, now based in Vancouver BC. They’ve been active in the pacific northwest DIY music scene since 2015, DJ’ing, VJ’ing, and working with various collectives - most notably Acceleration Radio since 2018. Through Acceleration Radio, Reylinn has worked alongside collective members to book 100+ artists across Canada, the US, and abroad for FM radio broadcasts, online live streams, and raves with the priority of platforming underrepresented artists. Reylinn’s DJ style is characterized by experimentation with a wide variety of sounds. She’s attracted to sounds ranging from techno, electro, and leftfield bass, to driving high bpm genres such as footwork, jungle and DnB, and sounds on the outer fringes - breakcore, gabber, and deconstructed club.

"I focused on making a mix that just as much fits the context of an opening slot from 12-1am, as it does listening to a mix in headphones or a set of home speakers. If this were an opening set, it’d be geared towards the heads who arrive at the club early who are just as down with braindancing as they are wiggling on the floor with a lot of room. The energy rises with a dancefloor starting to fill out kept in mind."

I used the hour to present a score for an artist film that has not yet been made. It’s a sonic manifestation of research I have been collecting over the past year, mainly concerning storytelling.
The film explores violence that trickles down from patriarchy arriving at the domestic space and into memory. It is the story of a young boy always outside, on the peripheries of society, identity and belonging.

The image for the show was inspired by stories of Armageddon and judgement day that I grew up with. It also references a key focus of the film, D E S T R U C T I O N .
