The Iwakura Mission or Iwakura Embassy (岩倉使節団, Iwakura Shisetsudan) was a Japanese diplomatic voyage to the United States and Europe conducted between 1871 and 1873 by leading statesmen and scholars of the Meiji period. It was not the only such mission, but it is the most well-known and possibly most significant in terms of its impact on the modernization of Japan after a long period of isolation from the West. The mission was first proposed by the influential Dutch missionary and engineer Guido Verbeck, based to some degree on the model of the Grand Embassy of Peter I.

The aim of the mission was threefold; to gain recognition for the newly reinstated imperial dynasty under the Emperor Meiji; to begin preliminary renegotiation of the unequal treaties with the dominant world powers; and to make a comprehensive study of modern industrial, political, military and educational systems and structures in the United States and Europe.

The Iwakura Mission followed several such missions previously sent by the Shogunate, such as the Japanese Embassy to the United States in 1860, the First Japanese Embassy to Europe in 1862, and the Second Japanese Embassy to Europe in 1863.

BIO:
Rotterdam based Bram VanK's passion is house and techno music with a progressive edge and soul, deep and melodic.
After a successful start producing music (under monikers as Funkstar Criminal, Max Dione, Groove Doctor, RB Fusion) back in 1999. Bram took a break around 2008. After that break of well over 12 years, stimulated by family and friends, Bram is back in the game of songwriting, producing and a bit djing.

Bram is inspired by artists like Funk D'void, Laurent Garnier, Sven Väth, Carl Craig and Dimitri Kneppers. So receiving support from the likes of Funk D'void, Dimitri Kneppers, Colin Dalle and Katotte on his recent releases like the 'Get On With It' EP, 'In Town' EP, ‘Becasue My Boss Sais So!’ and ‘ Dance De La Folie’ is an amazing bonus and huge recognition. And such much more is coming. For now secrets ….but keep an eye out!

Quel temps fait-il entre les gouttes ?

Last year I went to a black out park where no light pollution is allowed. My wife and I went to the shoreline and watched an odd sounding boat fly across the water line and pause. It then began to hover roughly 100 feet in the air. My wife and I looked at each other astonished. Soon after it began dancing In a rhythmic pattern similar to how a Bee signals where pollen is. Two orbs came out of the water dancing in sync with the craft above. A shaft opened on the bottom of the craft both Orbs went inside the craft. The dancing Rythm changed and the craft fired three red orbs deep into the water. The craft continued to dance for awhile and then began to hover closer to My wife and I's location getting very close to the ground (roughly Twenty feet) We began to fear what would happen. The craft soon flew up in a lazy motion and then took up speed and vanished out of plain sight. We soon left the area that we had experienced this and watched as the Red orbs came out of the water and Began scanning where we had Been sitting. It shot a White laser pattern all over the area the orbs moved with excellent agility. This was a wild experience that showed me we are not alone. Lose Yourself – in Love

This set was born under the stars at the season-closing Ecstatic Dance at Soundgarden, Arillas – Corfu, Greece.

Each time I create a set, I begin with an intention - a vibration, a prayer in motion. It’s my way of tuning into what life is whispering through me at that moment. When you dance to my music, you’re not just hearing sounds - you’re feeling the echoes of what has been moving in my heart and soul. For this one, the intention was different. It wasn’t about reflecting a passing emotion - even though joy has been flowing strongly in me lately. It was meant as a musical & emotional mirror for the entire year at the Soundgarden - a year of deep dances, laughter, tears, silence, and connection.

The Soundgarden is more than a place to me. It’s a living field of energy -  a sanctuary for movement, healing, and awakening. The Ecstatic Dances we share there are not just events… they are ceremonies of freedom and remembrance.
This set carries the essence of that journey -  weaving together melodies and rhythms that have accompanied us through the season. Earlier this year, while in Bali, I created a track called “Love Yourself”, a mantra in sound and an anchor for my creative path.

Now, as the circle closes for this year, a new intention arises:
Lose Yourself – in Love.

May this music guide you to surrender, to dissolve the edges of the self, and to remember - we are all dancers in the great rhythm of Love.

I was inspired by O Virtus Sapientie! (O Wisdom’s Energy!), a devotional song by the 11th century nun Hildegard von Bingen, to write and create this jazz-blues fusion song.  These are the words to her original:

O Wisdom’s energy!
