Please allow us to introduce you to Ear Explorer’s Tropical Mini-Trips Sound Collage (RIAFC080). Ear Explorer is an Italian sound collective that resurrects dead sounds (usually from gramophone records but in this case vinyl) – lush, hypnotic loops of tropical birds and jungle insects, mysterious electronic sounds and echoes, the crackling and hiss of an old record, a woman’s soulful mantra fortuitously created by a record that skips repeatedly, and more. Nishant Mittal (Digging in India) explores a “darker” and weirder side of Indian music from rare Bollywood, Bengali, and Kannada soundtracks. Tripped out cult tunes, drug-induced hallucinations and freakout effects, a giraffe-trapping song, a Hindi language remake of an Alfred Hitchcock film, funk and disco from horror films, deranged beats and more.

Utilizing 6+ channels each, the duo creates a firewall of rare sounds from any findable earth, finely-folded in/outta of absurdist radio theatre, site-specific correspondence, and semi-serious public-disservice announcements. 

Warbling the unbeatable superground beweenno-fi poppable gems, free-improvised nothings,and the erratic nonstop that’s everywhere anyway.
