Coming in as a final transmission from the Upon.You Records camp in 2k20 and a definitive statement straight from the studio of the labels creative mastermind Marco Resmann is his new seven track mini album „Past / Future“.

Inspired by and entirely crafted throughout the COVID-19 induced lockdown that held, and still holds, the entire nightlife industry captive alongside big parts of the music business both facing massive losses with a certainly uncertain future ahead the tracks on „Past / Future“ both reminisce and reflect about the state of an entire scene, how it used to and how – if, when and whenever... – it will be at a point humanity has overcome the global pandemic.

„Past / Future“ is Marco Resmann's musical statement at the end of a strange year in which electronic music was bereft of its natural habitat, dancefloor functionality was rendered redundant and forcefully displaced to a new reality of home- and headphone consumption and streaming sets.

Opening with „Save The Night“ for an intro the Berlin-based producer weighs in a clear message, repeated over and over again by various warped and twisted voices backed by soft, organic and somewhat dubbed out 4/4 foundation providing us with a memory of what once used to be.

The title cut „Past / Future“ featuring vocalist Tony Philips draws inspiration from both deepest DubTechno realms and track'ish, raw and ever filtered (Deep)House rhythm signatures for extended late night sessions whilst paying homage to the long, ever meandering tracks and structures filed under the flag of Intelligent Techno back in the days.

„Nevertheless“ sees Marco Resmann shifting gears to reach full on dancefloor mode, once again amalgamating a driving, yet stripped down and expertly filtered uptempo TechHouse vibe with a wide variety of DubTechno-leaning elements whilst opening up large scale realms with the tunes' beautifully hypnotic main synth line.

Riding the „Wave“ Marco Resmann explores a highly futuristic Sci-Fi Ambient realm of cold, score'esque qualities, fusing the vastness of deep space with warped modular bleeps and echoes of echoes of the Berlin School / ProtoAmbient movement with its histroy harking way back to the 70s even.
„Lost In Space“ is an excursion into the grey area bordering Broken Techno, Electro, Post- Dubstep and various incarnations of Bass Music in general, all glued together by a highly seductive swing, mutated scratches and raw, overwhelming vintage bass waves which turn this one into a timeless future classic within seconds.

The subsequent „Exit“ follows with even more swirling raw vintage bass greatness, backed by a seductive TechHouse groove, ever tweaked high frequency feedbacks and beautiful harmonies, all leading towards a lively, captiving main motif ready to take, at this time: imaginery, dancefloors by storm in combination with the tunes Trance-influenced string and pad sections.

Finally „Belief“ embarks on a journey towards a faint, yet existing silver lining at the horizon with its bubbly, ever sparkling synth cascades and emotionally touching chords backed by what is best to be described as the love child of TechHouse and (Neo)Trance for a closing.

Coming in for a next one to be released via Upon.You Records we've got a fresh collaboration going on which sees two long standing and beloved figures of the German scene joining forces to cook up some dancefloor goodness for post-pandemic times. We're talking Kotelett & Sascha Cawa here who are presenting their conjunctional label debut that is „Akemie" with two original tracks and a dubbed out retake of the title cut.

With „Akemie" we see Kotelett & Sascha Cawa provide a deep and highly fascinating dancefloor banger, pairing a precisely sculpted TechHouse foundation with a well hypnotic, slightly modulated main motif accompanied by an evergrowing stack of intertwined, corresponding synth layers leading towards the most angelic widescreen panorama breakdown you'll experience on a large scale P.A. system this year.

Subsequently „Takeshi" is shifting gears and enters full throttle mode whilst the prolific duo navigates a brooding, well futuristic sonic realm, firing up dancefloors with a clean cut, more muscular and surely spine-tingling, Techno-leaning sound vision balancing the thin line between a looming apocalypse and an oncoming salvation, perfectly represented by the tunes glistening melodies.

Finally, the title track makes a second appearance in its so-called „Akemie *Dub" version, providing an even deeper and slightly moodier variation for extended (Neo)Trance-oriented after hours sets and open air sunrise sessions under immaculate skies for a closing.

It is the year 2007.

Electronic music is more popular than ever, especially TechHouse is on a thriving uprise and Berlin already became the buzzing nightlife capital of the world it is known as today.

Amidst all these creative and musical vibes a new label is born -  Upon.You Records. Founded in February 2007 by DJ & producer Marco Resmann, with a first release under his moniker Phage on Martin Landsky's Intim Recordings as well as great success as one half of the infamous project Luna City Express under his belt, and electronic music veteran Hawks Grunert, formerly involved in running Timing Recordings with Tanith as well as working for legendary „Frontpage“ magazine, Upon.You Records was already widely recognized for its first release, Phage's „Vut & Vat EP“, and started to drive on the fast lane immediately.

Originally intended to be a platform for music from an inner circle of friends as well as for aspiring young talent it didn't take long until the label branched out in 2008 with first international signings,  various label tours all over the place and a first label compilation.

In 2009, after receiving massive support from nightlife heavyweights like Steve Bug, Brothers Vibe, Someone Else and many more, a cover story in German electronic music magazine GROOVE and with a catalogue of roughly twenty 12“ releases Upon.You launched two subdivisions - Upon.You Digital and the momentary Upon.You Sweet & Sour Series – and established a booking agency as well as regular label events at two of Berlin's most praised venues, Watergate Club and the infamous Panoramabar.

Furthermore Upon.You Records teamed up with Workaholics Berlin for the launch of a merchandising line in 2009, introducing the labels unique visual image to the world of street fashion.

With the launch of the annual label retro- / futurespective „Upon.You Diary“ and an expanded core artist family now including Marco Resmann, Martin Landsky, ONNO, Ruede Hagelstein, Gunnar Stiller, Magit Cacoon and The Cheapers alongside many others, 2010 finally paved the way for success and fruitful growth to come in consecutive years in which Upon.You became one of the leading labels in all things TechHouse and related.

And it was even the first issue „Upon.You Diary“ that awed the electronic world with Marco Resmann's widely praised tune „This Song“, immediately ruling every dancefloor after it was released and drawing even more attenttion towards the Berlin-based label which continued to expand its growing international network whilst signing releases by Quenum, Kink or the UK-based longtime ambassador Steve Lawler.

On a jam-packed schedule of about twenty releases per year lately, including Ruede Hagelstein's Beatport smash „Minus“, with label artists touring the globe frequently and armed with the brand new, 2014-launched UYX subdivision focusing on raw TechHouse and classic stamped whitelabel aesthetics, Upon.You has grown into a major force on the international electronic music circuit.

Always on the lookout for new talent and keen to explore new territories, the future looks brighter than ever for Upon.You after entering the longplay circuit with the widely acknowledged album debut of the former Tel Aviv- and now Berlin-based DJ / producer Magit Cacoon, another successful instalment of the „Upon.You Diary“-series and finally entering three digit realms with the release of Marco Resmann's extrordinary gold vinyl 12“  „100“ - the onehundredth Upon.You single release in the label history which was released in late 2015.

And things surely are about to be busier than ever for all members of the Upon.You camp over the course of 2016, celebrating the labels 8th anniversary with a dedicated series of label events all over Europe and special showcases at Sonar / Barcelona as well as ADE and, of course, a string of high quality releases for maximum dancefloor pleasure throughout this season and beyond.
