The Live Awake podcast helps bring you back to your grounded center through reflection and guided meditation. 

This podcast lends a new outlook to some of life's hard landscape. Perspective is everything, and by choosing to live awake to all that blooms in front of us we begin to live a more empowered life where joy becomes our natural state of being rather than something we occasionally stumble upon.  Through living awake we become conscious participants in our life’s unfolding.

At the end of each episode you will be guided through a short meditation on the topic at hand to help loosen the spots we can feel victim to. By doing this we come to understand we can choose not our usual, painful unconscious habits but instead to live from a place of grounded awareness, free from suffering.  

Live awake is for all those devoted to their hearts, devoted to the soul behind their ribs that came here to grow and expand, to all those devoted to learning, respecting and honoring the ways they are being called to do so. 

It is a place where one can come to close their eyes and rest a while on their breath, and see all they trouble and toil alongside is truly a gold lined cloud, holding a message of great hope and learning cradled within it.

Rory Michelle Sullivan is a singer-songwriter and composer who has recorded and performed her songs internaRory Michelle Sullivan is a singer-songwriter and composer. Her work explores relating to ourselves, others, and a spiritual Source in healthy, authentic, creative, and constructive ways. She has recorded and performed her songs internationally, from parlor rooms in Jerusalem to bars in Vienna to Jimmy’s No. 43 in NYC’s East Village. Notably, she has performed at the Morgan Park Summer Music Festival on the same stage graced by folk legends Peter Yarrow and Dar Williams. Rory Michelle and her music have been featured at festivals such as ISH, Cincinnati's Jewish and Israeli Arts and Cultural Festival, on the Emerging Artist Showcase on Jewish Rock Radio hosted by celebrated Americana singer-songwriter Joe Buchanan, and in Philadelphia RowHome magazine.
Rory Michelle has released four studio albums of original songs: Rising in Love Concept Album (2019), The God Album (2015), Inner Child (2014), and Turtledove (2013). Her Jewish-themed musical endeavor, The God Album, includes fun folk, funk, rock, and swing music with songs infused, inspired, and informed by Jewish text. Listeners have called Rory Michelle's music "most enjoyable ... worshipful as well as fun" and "clever, honest, soul-bearing folk songs that transcend place, time, and circumstance and stir the imagination and tug gently but deservedly and genuinely at your heartstrings."
When she is not composing music, Rory Michelle is singing it with Jewish communities. Rory Michelle holds a Bachelors in psychology from Harvard University and a Masters in Arts in Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. She is currently working on a musical. Jefferson Hamer is a songwriter, guitarist, and interpreter of traditional music. "Alameda," his latest album of original songs, was released in 2018, and features Jeff Picker, John Fatum, Alec Spiegelman, Hannah Read, and Sarah Jarosz. Writing for The New Yorker, Robert Sullivan said, "'Alameda,' the title track on Hamer’s album, is a rock ballad with crispy guitar licks and geographic lyrics about a wandering worker, who is maybe the author, but maybe not. In the way that it talks about a long search for work, it reminds me of Woody Guthrie’s Columbia River song series…“Moving Day,” another song on the CD, is now up there with Guy Clark’s “L.A. Freeway” as one of my favorite songs about moving."
Jefferson also performs with Eamon O'Leary in the acoustic folk duo Murphy Beds and as electric guitarist in the six-piece folk-rock ensemble Session Americana. His 2013 “Child Ballads” album with Anais Mitchell earned a BBC2 Folk Award and was named one of NPR’s top-ten Folk releases of the year.
