French II is back. After 2020's 'Control EP', the currently Berlin-based artist returns with a surprising next step in his sound. As one of Intercept's core members, Frank Klick, has shown himself to be a true innovator and instigator of bass-heavy and moody club sounds.

The title track 'CD is Dead' follows that exact formula, taking notes from his earlier work but also taking a leap forward by embracing flow instead of hype. This is contrasted by 'Frequency', a 140bpm dance floor killer, and one of the first 4/4 French II tracks to be released. Its driving bassline groove and zappy synths make for an electrifying dance floor weapon.

The EP is topped off with 'Shot Caller' and 'Still Here', with the last one ending the EP on an emotional high note.

DJ and Producer, always in the imagination, halfway between
worlds. If its name is esoteric, its expression translates
in machinery.
He made his big leap as a DJ in Shanghai. While skimming the
Chinese coast, from B2B in shopping center basements to
festivals perched in a pagoda, he is a resident of Deep Roll Suzhou
for two years.
Bathing in this underground scene will always feed this spirit
experimental and rebellious.
On his return to France, he brings back in his luggage this energy
to join the Montpellier scene, and becomes a resident
of the Pinata Radio.
Following a first appearance on a VA of Sengiley Records, his
first EP Running Out (Les Disques du Lobby) released in June 2023
is accompanied by a live project. Since then, he roams the places friends of
his overheated deconstructed station wagons, which will guide him, among other things, from
Rinse France to the Macadam of Nantes.
Through its semi-analog cockpit, it explores the energies
syncopations revolving around ghetto tech, acid and
jungle.

Riding in on the tail end of the scorching summer is “Milka” by SunnySun & Moska, a chunky and funky uptempo stepper with sleek remixes courtesy of in-house ghost producers Looting Businessmen & Foreign Agent! 

Moska (Eva Jakimoska) is a Ljubljana-born Vienna-based DJ, aspiring producer, traditional illustrator and graphic designer. She honed her DJing skills as one half of DJ duo Saraieva (with SamSara), playing hip hop, funk and soul to local and regional audiences. Since then, she has cultivated a more club-focused yet soulful blend of breakbeat, footwork and juke as Moska. SunnySun (Sani Al Saleh) is best known as a hip-hop DJ, producer and MC and head honcho of Big Nose Ent., an independent Slovenian record label and record store based in Ljubljana. His broad musical palate has seen him play everything from rare grooves and disco funk to contemporary club breaks and ghetto bass. Their common interests naturally  led to various collaborations and recently manifested in a new collective (alongside legendary Ljubljana DJ Bakto) called Ghetto Trunk, showcasing a blend of the aforementioned club genres. 

The title track came together in a single jam session (dubbed “smooth as butter” by one of the authors) due to the authors’ naturally aligned musical tastes and sensibilities. The Bulgarian female vocal choir samples in the original mix are underpinned with ghetto electro / UK-bass-adjacent shuffled breaks, funky stabs and a throbbing low-end for optimum dancefloor impact. On the flipside, the Honest Work capo dons his Looting Businessmen alias, which specializes in sample-based soulful house & disco edits while the bonus track comes in the form of a stripped-down dub version encrypted by the shadowy Foreign Agent.

"Milka" by SunnySun & Moska is Honest Work Recordings' foray into groovy dancefloor territory with infectious beats and soulful undertones, delivered by some of the region’s most visible acteurs. It is also a showcase of the label’s ongoing commitment to surprising open-minded listeners while representing the full spectrum of electronic music. Honest Work is never done!
