had to go back and listen to your earlier version of this to the get the full effect. For one, this mix/master/edit version definitely has a bit more warmth and with a bit less aggressive stance on the high end eq and overall comp/limiting which really gives it a different character & identity. Very cool.

This track really has some of the absolute finest elements of reggae but also with a very modern twist I believe within the way the vocals interact with everything. And the guitars have a Next Level sound to them when it comes to reggae. SO, great work in elevating the sound and again greatly raising the bar !! It’s song’s like this that can change the sound of what the future brings.

“Frankie” was the name Eddie Van Halen gave his guitar, a cross pollination of a Gibson Les Paul and a Fender Stratocaster, that he assembled himself from different parts for a total sum of of only 150 dollars. A Frankenstein Guitar so to speak, made from a left over second rate body and many different parts: the Frankenstrat. 

The Frankenstrat was Van Halen's attempt to combine the sound of a classic Gibson guitar with the physical attributes and tremolo bar functionality of a Fender Stratocaster. He singlehandedly reinvented the electric rock guitar and style of playing. 

Eddie died last year, and to remember him, I’ve made several covers of some of his songs, this time I made an original track, however heavily based on his playing, soloing and riffs. 

I hope you can appreciate and enjoy this tune written for Eddie, the man who inspired young Daniël, like so many other kids, to pick up the guitar and want to play rock music.

From the first time I listened to Annie Smart I was fond of the warmth of her voice and the fresh feel of her songs. My first collaboration, if you can call that that, was putting a simple guitar track on one of her wonderful songs a few months ago. That was clearly not enough. So I've had to imagine a lot of my awkward layered with her voice to see if she could get any good out of it.

The truth is that, as always, she has done a wonderful job in the melody that I send her.

Thanks also to Sander Heerings (Wane of summer) who was kind enough to master the song.

A couple of years ago I was looking for royalty free video material for another tune when I found a old silent movie, Alice in Wonderland, from 1915. Those fantastic images, full of naif beauty,  inspired me a piece about dreamers. That old version is still there on YouTube. This is a new version for violin with a great interpretation of Rosin Dust. The more we collaborate, the more enthusiastic I am of her lyrical sounds.
