the army gathered 'round their supposed enemy
soon it became clear that all was lost

his mother begged him, no, don't go, this isn't right
i cannot bear to lose, my son, to a war unwinnable
who's proving what to whom

he promised her that he'd return victorious
bring glory back to us
because enough's enough

and when they told her that his body wasn't found
