Stephen Hammond &amp; Geoff Dutch when interviewed simply said "We formed the band initially called Mother Careys Chicken in spring 1992. &nbsp;A summer of car washing meant that we could then buy guitars and learn how to play. &nbsp; In January '93, we hooked up with Tom Hennah, who played air drums really well, he borrowed a kit for a while then started to learn once he bought his own. &nbsp;We asked Simon Burgon to join Summer '93 (because he could play the solo from "The Unforgiven"), and the four of us played Metallica &amp; Guns n Roses covers for a year or so in the local Scout Hut.




In this time we tried out a few vocalists but we thought they didn't fit in too well. &nbsp;We then changed the name to "Lunatic Fringe" and decided that we'd go with Stephens brother, David, as our frontman and vocalist. &nbsp;We wrote a few tunes , added a load of Nirvana tunes to our repertoire and played a few gigs, including "The St. Albans Abbey Crypt" (May 7th 1994), which incidentally has become a cult home video, and the "Northampton Irish Centre" which was our first proper gig bemusing the local crowd.




After writing a few wicked tunes with David, we decided that his hair cut was not cool enough and his black clothes began to fade to grey so we had to boot him out. &nbsp;For a few months we were headless chickens, until we mistakently decided that a frontman wasn’t necessary and we’d do fine as a four piece. &nbsp;So initial shyness had to be pushed aside and from July 1996 the new ' Fringe was arown town."




Odd recordings of various sessions were distributed to friends, family and local gig spots during late 1996 in an attempt to stop playing behind closed doors and to get some feedback on the band. &nbsp;The result was a pleasantly surprised group of friends and a handful of gigs over the following years at The Wag n'Bone (Watford), Long Island Exchange (Rickmansworth), Watford Live Aid, The Wheatsheaf (Leighton Buzzard), The Hop-Pole (Aylesbury) and the Buckinghamshire Arms (Aylesbury).




David Mills increased the band to a 5-piece in the latter half of the decade but by the millenium things had started to fragment ....

Out now, "Old Skin".  The latest album by electronic music pioneer, Morgan King.

Morgan, although born in London started his career in Manchester as a drummer. Illustration, his first band appeared on the Some Bizarre Album with the song he co-wrote "Tidal Flow".  This compilation was to also feature the first recordings by the likes of, Depeche Mode, Soft Cell, Blancmange and The The. At this period he worked with producers such as Martin Hannett in Strawberry Studios, Stockport and Mike Hedges at his Playground Studios in Camden Town.

After a few years honing his musical skills Morgan moved to Chicago in the late 80s, where he got together with Marshall Jefferson, the godfather of house and house diva Kym Mazelle for the writing of her first album.
 
Back in Europe a year later he joined Manic MC's and co wrote "Mental" a UK club smash and remixed Gwen Guthrie's "Ain't Nothin' Going On But The Rent"! Then in 1990, Morgan teamed up with the classic Swedish house label Btech for a number of underground projects such as Technoir, Control E and Al-Hambra, whose releases are collectors items today.

In 1990, Jan Ekholm asked him to join Clubland along with vocalist Zemya Hamilton. Their debut singe "Let's Get Busy" (remixed by Snap) became a worldwide hit, including No 1 in the Billboard Club Chart.
 
The success was followed up by the hits "Hold On", "Love Strain", "Set Me Free" and "Hypnotized" who all got to the same number one position in the US and established Clubland all over the world. The band worked with many of the top producers at the time including David Morales, Steve "Silk" Hurley, E-Smoove, Eric Kupper, StoneBridge and George Morel.

In between Clubland, Morgan found the time to release his first solo effort; the timeless club classic "I'm Free", hammered by every DJ around the globe, and also the classic "Take Me Up" by Soundsource - an end of the night anthem played by the likes of Andrew Weatherall and sampled by an endless number of acts throughout the years, including Lock 'n' Load for thier top 10 hit "Blow ya Mind".
 
Morgan also wrote and produced two tracks on the first volume of the successful Cafe Del Mar compilation series "Agua" and "On the Rocks, plus picked up a Grammy Award for "Best Dance Act".

Of late Morgan has been writing and producing music which has featured on BBC, ITV, Films and most cabel networks, with plans in the process to return to his roots as a singer/songwriter!
