The Name I Long To Hear (A. and D. Smith)

I wrote this in January 2005, and have performed it solo many times but it took a while to get it recorded.

Each verse (and the bridge) is a scene from the Ithaca, NY area.

Lyrics:

a flash of gold
a flash of green
a flash of something old you

a flash of alabaster
a flash of white, and after that
a flash of insight into
something gray you'd thought was unclean

rolling down the hillside,
tired and in no gear
the city lights below you,
up ahead a deer just crossed the road

Singer/Songwriter/Guitarist/Bandleader/Producer/Arranger/Recording Engineer...In an on-going career that started in 1971, Jon has fronted great Cali bands incl. SLO's Coon Creek, the legendary Fat and Sassy Band, Clovis/Fresno's Jon Eben and White Wolf, Driver/Wolf (with Legend Coleman Head), Hawaii's Jon Eben and Tantalus, teamed with Recording Artist KRISTI WARNER in Nashville, and even 'headlined' 4 amazing months at the legendary Mad Trapper Bar above the Arctic Circle in Inuvik, NWT!  
     Jon has played Concert Openers for some of Country’s biggest stars including George Strait, Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson, Leroy Parnell, Neil McCoy, Boy Howdy, and  Mark Chestnut at the famous Hanford Fox Theater in California. He was music director/band leader for the HeeHaw Reunion Tour featuring the Hager Twins and Gunilla Hutton in California in the 90’s.
