I have always loved music and sounds and things that make them. Once, a teacher asked what we thought was the oldest musical instrument and the whole class thought it was probably a drum or at least a stick hitting another stick with a beat. When he said it was the voice, I realized I had the most primal and versatile instrument within me. 
I have not trained my voice. I have not taken lessons, I was not in any bands or choirs, but I have lots of experience making all kinds of sounds - from hissing, squealing, growling and screaming to soft whispers and hums, from sweet notes to harsh metal roars. And I use them all the time when I speak. I throw in sound effects and imitate other voices or do accents to have fun.
THEN I heard about Tuvan throatsinging. I tried it the first time around Halloween 2009 and got beginner results almost right away. I thought I needed to practice lots and get good at it, so I persisted and began a vocal training regimen that includes breath, pressure and flow control, throat muscle training and listening exercises.
My tracks are the clips of my practice sessions that I deemed good enough to share at the respective time they were made. The nomenclature includes the number of months I had been practicing when the clip was created.

In the process of making these recordings I have learned how to make better recordings, how to use filters and noise cancellors correctly, how to restore clipped audio and so much more. I also learned about music theory, tuning systems, overtones and undertones, vibration modes, musical themes, motifs and modes, how speech is formed within the vocal tract, and much more.

Learning this centuries-old art form has helped me grow as an artist and as a person.

The Muskrats don't consider themselves profound musicians hence the self proclamation of being mediocre, regardless they have fun and enjoy the music they make from its creative process to the final outcome. I have so much fun making the music (vocals and playing all the instruments/ producing) and creating the art work for the videos, but kudos also goes to the young genius that is my brother Roman Madrigal who is responsible for bringing my artwork to life with his amazing animations talents.
