The Self. Electric is a high-energy, technology-driven marching band show meant to ask the question; where do we draw the line between something being human, and something being almost human? The Self. Electric explores the idea of human error, attachments, and relationships, and sometimes even loneliness, all things that make us human.

The Backwoods, written for Drum and Bugle Corps, features themes of the deep Appalachian South, with themes of religion, nature, community, and class struggle. This is one of the toughest brass books I have written, and growing up in this area of the country I wanted to highlight themes not usually touched on.
