Since the release of their debut album “Talk About It” in 2003, Abelwell have established themselves as one of the U.K’s premiere reggae bands, and have toured Britain and travelled to places such as Europe, Jamaica and The Gambia. They have taken with them their unique brand of reggae music which is strongly influenced by their collective life experiences.

Brothers Andrew and Peter McGregor along with Eamon Sterling are the original founders of Abelwell. The band now comprises of five musicians and two vocalists who produce a beautifully crafted sound with articulately delivered lyrical content. They perfectly illustrate the art of harmonizing within the context of their overall message in order to emphasise what it means to be connected to each other.

Abelwell’s second album “Fine Incense” has an unmistakable and unique quality that is all their own. They have melded the sounds of Ska, Roots, Steppers, Rub A Dub, traditional Lover’s Rock and Jazz into a retrospective, yet forward looking album that listeners will find intoxicating.

Abelwell have progressed in their lyrical content to further highlight consciousness, respect and love which they believe are of particular importance for these challenging times in which we live.

They have continuously outlined and defined their cultural and spiritual experiences through their music, which has shaped and influenced their lives and use this to encourage and inspire others to excel beyond the boundaries of their own cultural expectations. Tracks like “Life”, “Who feels it”, “Silent Moment” and “Fine Incense” among others, unreservedly demonstrates their commitment to cultivating a symbiotic community which has at its centre, the theme of unconditional love for one and all.

Richard is a singer, writer, programmer, producer and keyboard/piano player. He has been a member of several electronic bands including Moonshot, Epic Colour and Butterfly Syndicate. He has also remixed tracks by Ian Dillon, Gary Noakes, Crimson Death & Pixiguts. 

Richard has a keen appreciation of many musical genres as evidenced in the wide range of styles in his back catalogue.  After going to Sasha's & John Digweed's reunion set at The Social in 2016, Richard's passion for dance music was reawakened and he began writing tracks with more of a progressive and melodic house style. 

His latest project is an eight track deep/melodic house album called Mapped, which is inspired by some of the places he has visited around the world. The first track is Sefad Hillside and is available as a free download on this site. The second track is called And Then Came The Snow and is currently in production.  Written about the time I walked out of SWG3 after Sasha and Digweed: The snow sounded like fresh vinyl under our feet and our ears were ringing from one of the best sets I've heard in a long time. As we all trouped towards the taxi ranks we were silent with knowing smiles and handshakes. We knew it had been a special night. I hope it will be a special track and a fitting tribute to my two biggest dance music heroes.
