Nomada Records has shown several times that they have a good sense for fresh talents. This time the label spotted the sample-based producer Martin Georgi (quietelegance, OYE Black, Seismographic Records).

He has already popped up in the deep house scene a few years ago, as Delfonic kissed the artist from his slumber by releasing tracks of him which originally were produced on vinyl back in 2008. So, no wonder that on the flipside of the new release, a contribution by Delfonic can be found. It is a live session, originally penned by Georgi and pursuing the idea of bizarre mash-up. In addition, on the B-side you will find another interesting name which can be interpreted as an “alias” of Martin Georgi himself.

The A-side acts as an EP called “Motor City Damage Ep”. Here, Georgi was inspired by the rising civic movement from Detroit. While the car industry had abandoned D-Town, they left behind not only a high unemployment rate, but also unused industrial wasteland. Some of those very large areas are used now by a citizens’ initiative for vegetable gardens, bringing in a benefit for the citizens involved. Georgi was so fascinated by this initiative that he sampled and connected interview excerpts from the project, in strong contrast to interview snippets from different documentaries, which focuse on Detroit's suffering from poverty and unemployment. This is how the track “Green Motor Damage” was created. As a musical reinforcement keyboardist and synth lover George John (Kommerz, Gettogether, BlaqNumbers) got to the keys, giving the track a soulful funky touch. Another track on the EP’s A-Side is called “Summer Kisses”, which “romanticizes” the dystopian aura of the city Detroit with idiosyncratic monotony. Here Georgi adapted the idea of film director Jim Jarmusch who pursued a similar project in his film “Only Lovers Left Alive”.

The third track is called “Waiting for a call” with a slight wink for the dance floor, but also an ironic statement on the exploitation of employees by outsourcing jobs to call center companies.

Undoubtedly Martin Georgi stands for a unique way of approaching musical productions. On the one hand through the dusty, persistent technique of sampling, on the other hand he is not guided by current trends, but much more by his reflections on social and ecological issues. One who ensures that the current dance floor continues to feel the skillful era of “intelligent sample-based house music”!

Following on from their recent @Delfonic Edits Vol 2, which was a huge LV favourite, @nomadarec are back with Martin Georgi's (@user-809487436) 5 track Motor City Damage EP which pays some serious homage to the deepest of Detroit house from cosmic key led journey Green Motor Damage through to throbbing electronic edged club slammer Fix Your Up.

Our premier from the EP today is Marvin's Trip as remixed by the aforementioned Delfonic. He's is a key supporter of Martin so it's apt that he jumps in on this EP. On Marvin's Trip he has turned in a brilliant Detroit-esque disco edged houser, super deep and super cool. Just the way we like it.

A fade in/fade out mix leads through well-known pop songs that have been adapted and arranged in Asia from the 1960s to the late 1980s. Local and traditional additions from the Asian region are incorporated, creating new hybrid pop versions of Western pop songs. With their musical intelligence, they have managed to generate a completely new audience worldwide – including in the western world. Eramo scheut dabei keinerlei Klangmittel und geht mit ihrer musikalischen bzw. lautmalerischen Performance dagegen an. Dabei entsteht Klang-Poesie einer Schönheit fast nicht menschlicher Art.
Eramo spielt mit ihrer Stimme und nutzt diese als externe Körper-Erweiterung. Inspiriert durch die Fluxus-Bewegung, strömt, röhrt und piepst sie sich durch eine Soundlandschaft. Seismographic Records is a label for global hybrid music, run by Martin Georgi. «Seismo» deals with connections of local and international sounds, of cultures and epochs far apart. It wants to break through the boundaries of Western music history and focus on the unheard. On currents that have so far been excluded from algorithms and streaming services due to their lack of market relevance. This is about the localization of new trend-setting centers in the Global South. In this way «Seismo» wants to make visible the potential of a decolonized music development. Music takes on the function of a seismograph. It is a sensitive instrument to register social transformations.  
The focus of the label is on the production of vinyls and their distribution on the global market. The pressing makes the projects materially tangible. The productions are preceded by a close collaboration with artists, researchers, designers, and journalists in order to explore the cultural and historical contexts of musical trends and to make them audiovisually accessible. Texts, graphics, and videos are used to illustrate the background and contextualize the music. Seismographic Records also collaborates with cultural institutions in order to provide a platform for the projects in the form of exhibitions, concerts, radio broadcasts and to anchor them in cultural discourse.
