One of the things that I love about playing for Asheville Movement Collective's Sunday Dance is the invitation to set an intention or theme to one's dj set. I drew inspiration from the first I'Ching hexagram.

Ch’ien / The Creative

The creative power of dance is available to us now. Let any frantic activity of the mind dissolve into the dance with open receptivity. 

Explore dance, movement, breath, stillness and wonder. Explore your “yes.” Explore your “no.” Explore your light. Explore your shadow. Open your heart. All is forgiven with love and compassion.

Let us gather again, on this sacred dance floor. 

What this mix has to offer is a journey, a time and space to move and be moved. To let old patterns that no longer serve you to pass over and on, with ease and grace. To make more room for the expansion of your gifts and dreams. 

To balance your wild spirit and woke mind.

in the USA Today.  It is meant to meet and move the range of emotions that many of us are experiencing in response to disregard for human life. It is dedicated to George Floyd and his family. To Breonna Taylor and her family. To Ahmaud Arbery and his family, and to the long string of humans whose life has been cut short because of racism.  It is action time.
